  1. There's also a Rue Duke Ellington in the small city of Achères, west of Paris. That would be very classy to have a mailing adress on that street! The Rue Duke Ellington is adjacent to the avenue Cesar Frank and is not very far from the Rue Charles Chaplin!
  2. Mais oui! I have plenty (more than enough) of these DMMs. As for the OJCs, I too do have plenty of those (no complaint in this case). I got those vinyls to complete the ones I could not afford when I had access to the original releases!
  3. Being overwhelmed by all the messages More thanks to all wellwishers!

Alan Silva (and his companion) with some of the Treasure Boxes they designed. Each box is individually painted!

Baptizum, hope you get enough money one day to purchase one of those Alan Silva Treasure Box: There is great music on those CDs!
  6. Sonny Stitt 'with J.J. Johnson and Bud Powell' (Prestige, mono, 50th St. adress)
  7. Many, many thanks to the wellwishers! What a nice way to start the day... and we Europeans have one more hour on our agenda today!
  8. Oh boy, so do I! Réda is one of the very best. A 1983 article by Réda on Jimmy Jones (in French and better adjust those eyeglasses)
  9. Booker Ervin 'The Freedom Book' (Pestige, mono, yellow label) with one of the all-time best ever rhythm section; Jaki Byard, Richard Davis and Alan Dawson!

    Kenny Dorham

Didn't KD's daughter join here for a short time a couple of years ago?
  11. Bertrand, last I heard Carles health was better. He reached 65 last year and retired from his Jazz Magazine job!
  12. Buddy Collette and the Poll Winners 'Porgy & Bess' (Interlude, stereo) with Jim Hall, Pete Jolly (on accordion), Gerald Wiggins, Red Callender and Louis Bellson
  13. Oui! Jazz Magazine and Jazzman tend to duplicate each other. Which is no wonder since they almost share their editorial offices (at least they were in separate rooms last time I visited the place a couple of years ago). The recent departure of Philippe Carles from Jazz Magazine bode no good Would be very bad news to see Jazz Magazine disappear after Jazz Hot. I have sentimental attachments (and many souvenirs) from both! I have to confess I have bought very few copies of the magazines in recent years. There is much more interesting news and knowledge about the music now on the web!
  14. Al Haig 'Parisian Thoroughfare' (Musica) 1977 piano solo session
  15. Jazz Hot, the French monthly which was founded in 1935 by Charles Delaunay is to stop publishing at the end of this year, it was announced yesterday. Jazz Hot has a claimed circulation of 10,000. It was one of the oldest jazz review still in circulation.
  16. That Miles Debut/OJC priced at $100 is wacko! Might be OK for an original Debut vinyl. $4,98 would be OK for the OJC reissue! And please stop rubbing it in... you did have a very good deal with that 'Hard Swing' LP
  17. There is a Place Louis Armstrong in the 13th Arrondissement of Paris. There is also a Place Django Reinhardt in suburban Saint-Ouen, just outside Paris.
  18. My bells are Catholic and behave better
  19. OK so which jazz track is missing?
  20. Dexter Gordon SteepleChase box, disc 2
  21. There's also the Rue de l'Epée de Bois (Wooden Sword Street) in the Latin Quarter too!
  22. Dizzy Gillespie 'Jazz Recital' (Norgran, mono)
  23. At least the Tour management is taking serious steps to prevent the doping problem from getting out of hands. From a Daily Telegraph/Reuters report today: Let's hope we will have a real winner in 2008!
  24. Many thanks MG! Hope the PC and you survive the experience
  25. There is a 2008 Calendar from this French outfit http://www.aquarupella.fr/ It's a BN calendar lookalike and goes under the name of 'The Giants of Jazz', a very good looking regular sized calendar with black/white photos by Francis Wolff. Dexter Gordon is on the cover. Sorry can't link any illustration. Neither Amazon.fr nor FNAC.com carry it so far! But it really looks good, just as good as the BN calendars that came out from Universe/Rizzoli!
