  1. OK chewy! You can relax now...
  2. Great idea! Can already hear James Brown singing 'I Feel Good!'
  3. Incroyable Barney Wilen hits $2,950
  4. Welcome Mark! You're off to a very good start
  5. It's the combination that makes this splendid! Fred Jackson ruled for too short a time!
  6. You could ignore Baby Face Willette but it would be your loss! 'Face to Face' is one BN album that can be rated essential!
  7. The mind boggles
  8. Wilbur Ware 'The Chicago Sound' (Riverside, mono) with John Jenkins, Johnny Griffin, etc...
  9. That 'Out of Nowhere' is also included in the Xanadu 206 Al Haig and its FreshSound reissue 'Chet Baker Live at the Trade Winds 1952' Jam Session 103 also has 'Strike Up the Band' and 'Pennies from Heaven' by Bob Enevoldsen, Milt Bernhardt, Jack Montrose, Marty Paich, an unidentified bass player and Larry Bunker. Recorded at the Trade Winds same night at 'Out of Nowhere'.
  10. The full material on the Xanadu is also available on that Fresh Sound 'Chet Baker Live at the Trade Winds 1952' Title: Chet Baker/ Al Haig Live In Hollywood Chet Baker Live At The Tradewinds Label: Xanadu 206,Fresh Sounds FSCD 1001 Original issue: Number of Tunes: 7 MD Recording Date(s):August 4,1952 Trade Winds Club Inglewood Ca Personnel:Chet Baker(tp)Ted Ottison(tp)Sonny Criss(as)Jack Montrose(ts) Les Thomson(hca)Al Haig(p)Dave Bryant(b)Larry Bunker(d) There Will Never be Another You 7:00 Bernie's Tune 6:56 My Old Flame 5:22 Avalon 5:52 I'll Remember April 7:29 How High The Moon 11:12 Sweet Georgia Brown 5:43
  11. Ted Curson 'Urge'. Cover by Marte Roling: Jimmy Woode was on bass. Thus was quite a good date! Curson and his group were really grooving on that one!
  12. Earl Hines 'Plays Cole Porter' (Swaggie)
  13. Yes, the unique Thomas Bernhard. Haven't read that one. 'Holzfallen' is the original title. It does not seem to have been translated into French!
  14. The Frémeaux sets have everything (with very few exceptions) that Armstrong recorded. With King Oliver, Fletcher Henderson, Clarence Williams, Bessie Smith and other singers. The JSP and Sony box did not have these!
  15. The mastering of the MojJ Armstrong was done by various people including François Terrazoni, Charles Eddi, Studio Resonance, Christophe Henaut. It went up to vol. 8 (February 1926). Daniel Nevers who is in charge of the Intégrale Armstrong for Frémeaux was in charge of the Armstrong MofJ CDs. Only indication on transfers and mastering that I can find is: Pareles - Frémeaux & Associés. John R.T. Davies is among the people getting acknowledgements in a credit at the end of the liner notes.
  16. Thomas Bernhard would have said 'typical Austrian'.
  17. I have not purchased any of the Hot Five and Seven sides since they came out on the Masters of Jazz series! Will be waiting for the next installment of the 'Intégrale Louis Armstrong' from Frémeaux & Associés. Volume 2 came out recently and the mastering is excellent. Volume 3 should be out very soon and will tackle the electric recording sides from Pops. Volume 3 will have the Hot Fives. The Hot Sevens should be on volume 4! Each volume has 3 CDs! Frémeaux recently completed their Intégrale Django Reinhardt series (volumes 1 to 20)! Fantastic job!
  18. I jush check this double volume Great value!
  19. The West Coast label Jam Session had four releases: JS100 - Shorty Rogers big band recorded in 1953 at the RendezVous Ballroom in Balboa Beach JS101 - Wardell Gray (1952 gigs at the Haig Club) JS102 - Gerry Mulligan (1952 gigs at the Haig Club) JS103 - Superstars of Jazz (1952 jams with Wardell Gray, Sonny Criss, Chet Baker, Bob Enevoldsen and others at the Trade Winds Club, in Inglewood). Don't think there was more. I am pretty sure all the material has been released since on other various labels!
  20. Dizzy Reece 'Manhattan Project' (Bee Hive) with Clifford Jordan, Charles Davis, Albert Dailey, Art Davis and Roy Haynes
  21. A number of those albums have been reissued by Fresh Sound and are still available. Just search their website: http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/ The Billy Usselton was a very nice surprise. Hardly heard about him before purchasing the FS CD. Really enjoyable one!
  22. Dexter Gordon in fine form in 1964 - apparently in a Dutch club - with George Grunz, Guy Pedersen and Daniel Humair Dexter Gordon 'Loose Walk'
  23. well, almost... Our Spanish Friends Didn't think this would happen so soon 'The Subterraneans' soundtrack was already reissued on a Signature CD

You'll be very welcome! Bringing in fig jam would be as much a faux pas as bringing California wine
