  1. I recall whan Norah Jones got multiple nominations for the Grammys shortly before the Board's end, there was much cheering on the BNBB ! Obviously the powers that were did not care about the positive reactions! In the end, the closure was a good thing! Our new home is much better
  2. Duke Ellington 'Collector's Serie' (Napoleon) Italian boot vinyl of a small group date with Rolf Ericson, Lawrence Brown, Hodges, Gonsalves, Carney, Gilbert Rovere and Sam Woodyard
  3. Jackie McLean and his sextet (Steve Davis on trombone, René McLean on tenor, Alan Palmer on piano, Nat Reeves on bass and Eric McPherson) in concert at the Festival de Jazz de Vienne, France (in 1998?): http://youtube.com/watch?v=tVkaAIqYB54&amp...ted&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=f5ZRM6bruJE&amp...ted&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=E67zG4EJXVo&amp...ted&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=wEHwWbnpJbk&amp...ted&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ew29OAofr8A&amp...ted&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=Lh84ZNlqRA8&amp...ted&search=

    Brew Moore

Durium, just shows that a lot of informations on those jazz blogs should be taken with a grain of salt... ... at least some of them
  5. Tribute to Stan Levey on youtube: One for Stan Levey

    Brew Moore

Big Beat Steve, you are obviously referring to that photo from the Brew Moore section of the Keep Swinging blog, that one IS Tony Fruscella, not Brew Moore!

Always glad to see the merits of Brew Moore celebrated! There was another thread on Brew on the occasion of his 8Oth birthday: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...ic=8796&hl=
  8. Sun Ra 'Sound Sun Pleasure' (Saturn, reissue)
  9. Don't bother! That Seeco 'The Art of Jazz' was a straight reissue of 'The Modern Art of Jazz' Seeco reissued a number of Dawn albums (with new covers) when they bought Dawn in the early '60s.
  10. Glad I dug up that one! It IS better than what I remembered about it! Porcy62 the Tarzan cover should be the standard for Manfred! That MGM cover makes me laugh, the ECM covers give me the creeps Now spinning: Ike Quebec 'Soul Samba' (BN, mono)
  11. Shorty Rogers 'Meets Tarzan' (MGM, mono) The cover is better than the disc!
  12. Thanks Blind Blake. Just hope it did not hurt the wallet too much

    Jimmy Raney

Love Raney, Thomas and Gourley. Gourley is vastly underrated, probably because he stays out of the United States... Raney watching Gourley having fun sitting on Thomas' lap. Dreamy eyed young man standing behind Raney is Sacha Distel. 1954 photo taken in Paris by Jean-Pierre Leloir.
  15. John McNeil Quintet 'Embarkation' (SteepleChase) with Bob Berg, Joanne Brackeen, Rufus Reid and Billy Hart
  16. Peter Friedman says it right! Once more...
  17. This recently released box might have been included too:
  18. Blind Blake, welcome to this board! Your report on that Freddie Redd appearance was a very interesting read. And pretty disturbing too. Was aware of his financial difficulties but did not know it extended that far! Coincidentaly, one of his albums sold for a pretty high figure on eBay yesterday: Get Happy with Freddie Redd This was not even the original release (the session was recorded for the Swedish label Metronome).
