  1. I have a Prestige dealer order form dated Fall 1963 that lists all available LPs from the Prestige labels that goes up to 7299 (Ahmed Abdul Malik 'Afro-Jazz') so would say 7311 'Outward Bound' and 7326 'Saxophone Colossus' were released in 1964.
  2. Same here. Saw a couple of the CDs up for grabs a couple of years ago. And nothing since! The only thing Mythic about these issues is their scarcity!
  3. Al Grey 'Shades of Grey' (Tangerine) with Harry Edison, Eddie Davis, Vi Redd, Sonny Payne, etc... in a Ray Charles-Produced session
  4. Mentioned this second date because the two sessions have been gathered togethe in various reissues. Sorry if it caused any confusion
  5. The one with the Cafe Bohemia sign was the original one. Savoy MG12017. It was a Kenny Clarke date recorded July 14, 1955. When Cannonball's name exploded on the scene, the LP was re-released with the cover highlighting his presence. Cannonball Adderley's Savoy MG12018 was recorded July 26, 1955.
  6. Riverside albums I remember...

  9. Oh my! The humor seems to be lost when it crosses the Atlantic

Schiltigheim is a small city just north of Strasbourg, close to the German border. You can book seats for the concert here!
  14. Trane had a distinctive tone and style even then. He stood out from the other sax players. I remember vivid discussions with other fans and musicians at the time about the respective merits of Rollins and Coltrane. Coltrane had mostly been heard on the early Miles Davis Quintet LPs. This was when Rollins came up with albums like 'Saxophone Colossus' and 'A Night At the Village Vanguard', before the release of Coltrane's first Prestige album and 'Blue Train'. The Coltrane supporters (I was one of those) were in a minority but won their case as soon as 'Giant Steps' reached these shores!
  15. From BBC NEWS:
  16. Arnett Cobb 'Movin' Right Along' (Prestige, yellow label, mono)
  17. In your next life, chewy! Hate to break this to you... ... but Boris Rose is dead
  18. I feel Lon and Pete's pain too More duplicates
  19. 'We Remember You' has a 1962 Birdland broadcast (thanks to Boris Rose) of Lee Morgan with Jimmy Heath, Barry Harris, Spanky deBrest, Tootie Heath and a 1972 date with Lee's quintet (Billy Harper, Harold Mabern, Jymie Merritt and Freddie Waits). 49 minutes of happiness!
  20. Don't think there is any unreleased music. Trust it would have been mentioned if there was. These tapes are the original ones that were used when those rare Charlie Parker appearances made it to record albums on various official and non-official releases. And a number of people realize the value of these original tapes. The current top bid is over 3K by now!
