  1. Le Monde carries this report - in French only - on the death of Derek Bailey (in London) on its website: http://www.lemonde.fr/web/article/0,1-0@2-...1-725095,0.html
  2. Yes, we need Christiern back on this Board! Not the same without him
  3. Joyeux anniversaire, Monsieur Elan
  4. Of the Membran releases I have only the 10CD boxes of Astor Piazzola (loved that one, discovered about all the music inside!), the Artie Shaw and the Duke Ellington. The Shaw and the Ellington material obviously comes from the Chronological Classics releases. Sound is not really good (specially on the Ellington box but so were the Classics:). The boxes are in my car and are used for play-along-while driving! At 9,99 euros ($12) a box, I will not complain... Have not touched any of the other releases!
  5. Claude Nougaro 'Femmes et Famines' (Barclay) with a sideman appearance by Ornette Coleman Nat Pierce 'Kansas City Memories' (Coral) with a great lineup of Joe Newman, Bill Harris, Hal McKusick, Oscar Pettiford, Freddie Green and Jo Jones
  6. I don't think the MGM 'Hot vs. Cool' and 'Cats vs. Chicks' has been reissued in full since their original vinyl releases.
  7. These reissues seem to have the exact tune listings as the original releases. And what a surprise, all of those originals were recorded more than 50 years ago! No idea yet how they sound like...
  8. Quite a number of interesting CD releases from the German label Membran (the label that provided us with excellent 10CD series of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Bird, etc...) at very cheap prices) Original longplay albums Some rare albums (Hot vs. Cool, Cats vs. Chicks, from MGM, the Jimmy Giuffre Capitols, Herb Gellers, etc...) are in the initial batch. No idea if these are bootlegs...
  9. Zoot Sims/Al Cohn/Phil Woods 'Jazz Alive! A Night at the Half Note' (UA, stereo)
  10. Michael Fitzgerald has this Kenny Barron discography on his Jazz Discography site!
  11. You volunteering for this ?!? I may post some additions from time to time... Merry Xmas!
  12. This thread was started exactly one year ago. It was fun building it up. Gary is the one who had the brillant idea for this. Thanks should go to him and also to all the various people who contributed to it! The thread should turn out to be a pretty useful reference link!

  24. You're confusing sides once more. You're the one who was whining in the original thread that you conveniently deleted. To quote myself: If there's a stalker around here, you're the one! And others are finding out now! I'll go back and ignore you and enjoy my life and leave you to your pathetic one! Up, over and out, as they say!
