OK I think something is wrong. Track 11 is groovy trio no tuba. Strange if you're listening to a different test as BFT178 is right at the top of the player.

Authoritative, but wrong on all counts, including the presence of a B3.

Like magic, new month, new test thus appeareth: http://www.thomkeith.net/index.php/blindfold-tests/ A few notes: 1. This is my last one, so I pulled out all the stops. 17 tracks (and believe it or not far less grease or hard bop than in the past). 2. The Gene/Not Gene tracks are fiendishly clever. Can't believe I never thought of these two before. 3. Track 17 is NSFW - Not Safe for Work. No it's not Baby It's Cold Outside, and not an especially crude rap/jazz hybrid. Just ... not safe for work.

Funny I had Swedish Lullabuy in my sights, among several others, probably early this year. Asked for advice here, got no response. I did pick it up though.

OK I think I figured it out. It Just Got To Be and Here We Come came from a two-day session. When the JRVG came out of It Just Got to Be, two unissued tracks came out - "The Girl Next Door" and "This is The Way 'tis". Now for the SHMs apparently Michael took those two orphans and put it on the other disc from those sessions, Here We Come. so if there are only three unissued tracks from the SHM reissues of Sounds material then I've got them all. Thanks to God though I was kinda hoping to use some Christmas loot to overspend for a track or two.

Do you know what tracks in particular are new? I know the issue of the Babe's Blues date had an unissued track, and at one time there was a JRVG that had two new tracks, I think that was It Just Had To Be. I have those two issues but now wonder if I missed another Japanese reissue that had unissued Sounds tracks?

Aren't the Dodgers the team to beat for Harper since they unloaded Puig? Seems obvious a first step toward adding the best player on the market. Here's hoping everybody has a happy New Year with Machado in Philly and Harper in LA (or Chicago)!

The Cheez-It Bowl is never going away then! That orange shitte is nearly as old as I am. Unless they rotate it among their cracker brands. Anyone for the Toasteds?

What I can't figure out is how they make much of it with gates that are often terrible for so many of the low tier games. The money is made by the rights fees I guess but with ESPN revenue plummeting how much longer can they pay for the worst of these games, that can't possibly earn anything from commercial sales given terrible ratings? Maybe the cord cutting movement will have a positive effect and end some of these games?

You're only just noticing now the expansion of bowl games for no particular reason but having a sponsor ready to pay? At least they do have a requirement that you must win at least six games to be bowl eligible. Otherwise my appalling Seminoles would have gotten an invite despite falling a game shy, just because there are plenty of FSU grads and fans out there in the southeast.

My rig is set up to play thru the PC and unfortunately I can't get the speakers to monitor the input line. So technically I am not currently spinning anything except my hard drive but here's the first of quite a few records purchased for my own holiday celebration. What caught my eye was Teddy Edwards in the credits. Into side 2 with only one Teddy appearance but no matter this lady can belt 'em out. Glad I gave it a shot.

So Bob had many more covers printed than record labels, I guess. I don't know about these things either but I learned about the Delmar/Delmark story many years ago when I found this one without the K

I wonder if this eBay copy is extra valuable as there is no "K" on the cover.

Credit where it's due - a Discogs seller shipped on the 22nd from Portland Oregon, Media Mail and it got to central Florida overnight somehow. Arrived today, a Christmas gift to myself, sped along by the Postal Service who must have mistakenly stuck in on a direct flight instead of the next truck out of there. Of course the dealer put one wrong LP in the box, now I bet the replacement will take three weeks. But today, I am pleased.

You must not have bothered to read thru to the end: Rivera could be the first Hall of Famer elected unanimously. I think I'm right about closers, but not so much that I would deny Rivera a chance to be the first unanimous Hall of Famer. Thus, I'm not voting this year. A submitted blank ballot is "no" vote for every candidate, so I'm doing a Switzerland and not sending one at all. ****** This guy is unbelievably stupid. But in the end since he isn't actively trying to prevent a unanimous selection, he can live with his stupidity and everybody else will forget it. And perhaps Rivera will go in unanimously.

Charlie Parker - Dean Benedetti Mosaic
Dan Gould replied to EKE BBB's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I thought the point of the release was that if you want it, this is it. Nowhere else.
