  1. Brad you're missing Swiss Nights Volume 3 with Dex doing his best Billy Eckstine on "Jelly Jelly". That's an all-time classic and the rest of the CD is great too.
  2. Well I just have to say that I read their Wiki page, and they get a million negative stars from me for "The Way We Were". Not sure how to judge them for writing the lyrics to the tv show 'Good Times'.
  3. This one has many good Steeplechase recordings mentioned HELL YEAH.
  4. No, Steeplechase never went that route. I know there was a thread about his Steeplechase recordings.
  5. Thanks but right now ...
  6. OK this begs for substantial "fleshing out" on both descriptions.
  7. You are quite adept though I guess if you found a Bennink disco and stuck with non-free compatriots that would stick out as an option. For those who liked the tenor there's a nice date with Horace Parlan and a more restrained Ellington-oriented set with Benny Green, both available for d/l on Amazon. I like the Parlan a bit more. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_7?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=joe+van+enkhuizen&sprefix=joe+van%2Cdigital-music%2C157&crid=1GGQTB8YH9LZ7
  8. He hisses and bites and you're trying to get him inside? We have a "barn" cat that is supposed to take care of any rats or other small furries near the horses - too wild for a lot of human interaction but we do feed him whenever he shows up which is pretty regularly and he's a helluva lot more grateful. Often he runs alongside on the way to the barn or crosses in front of you and winds around your leg. He tolerates a stroke on the side but that's really it.
  9. Thanks for indulging me Jeff I know its tough wading thru such a large compilation. Glad you enjoyed a good chunk of it.
  10. Check your spelling but yeah, I knew that hint would help give it away. What do you think now?
  11. OH did Freddie do porn on the side and you were guessing him as the male half of the couple? The answer would be "no" then, though the male performer is probably as famous in his field as Freddie was in music. To my knowledge, failure to warm up his chops has never had an adverse impact on his ability to perform.
  12. TRACK SEVENTEEN - That's probably Freddy Hubbard, or somebody influenced by him. No idea who the trumpeter is. It's more likely than not Freddy Hubbard, or its someone influenced by him, and you have no idea who the trumpeter is .... I am in Naples visiting Mom and left my JSngry decoder ring at home, sorry.
  13. 'Fraid so. Glad you've enjoyed the mining of the vein but I'm all tapped out. Hell I don't even have any leftovers to keep in mind for a next time.
  14. Last three years, 20, 24 and 28 starts respectively. He's not Jon Lester but are you better off with him, even if he misses time, than Sonny Gray? That's not even close.
  15. Happ for a full season and Paxton are major improvements. And the bullpen loses Robertson and is way better too with the lefty on board a full year and another top five FA reliever added.
  16. Yeah, its funny until he steps to the podium, Cashman smirking next to him.
  17. It's a damn conspiracy to get him in pinstripes, and cheap, too.
  18. Bud didn't stand at the clubhouse door handing them out like Pez.
  19. Thanks Tom.
  20. No the guy's article explaining his opposition stated explicitly that not voting is not a vote against. He did this knowing that he would not be preventing Mo's unanimous election because he was named on all returned ballots. An unreturned ballot means nothing.
  21. Mussina should not be in ahead of Schilling. If Schilling gets in, fine, whatever, but aside from total wins he has basically nothing on Schill who had a higher, and longer peak - more 20 game win seasons, more Ks much better K/BB ratio. Compare their age 28-37 seasons. Two times Mussina was a less than league-average pitcher. Thru those 10 years at the same age, Schilling never turned in a lower ERA+ than 118, and four straight that were 140 or higher. There's one difference - Mussina started out very strong, Schilling didn't. The difference in wins is more than accounted for in those first five years, and in fact Mussina never reached the same peak ever again. He had an ERA+ of 145 in 1995 at the age of 26. Never matched it again. Schilling had four of 140 or higher, age 34-37. And - I haven't even mentioned the post-season resumes.
  22. Allen favored me with the Percy France tracks this is great stuff! I may have to ask someone for the discographical details though when the box is out.
  23. Hell yeah with Curtis Amy ... too bad if it still exists it will probably never see the light of day.
