Just found Malice on cable, leading me to think of this silly poll. I don't watch the current TV show so if there's something truly better than any of these three, sorry. Schweddy Balls

I'm sure it depends on the company.

BTW, on TBS there are three guys in suits and then there is David Wells, dressed like a fucking bum. Maybe someone should have told him that Babe Ruth was a clotheshorse way back when. Or TBS should have told him, "we've got plenty of talking heads - wear a suit on the air or sayonara."

In 2008, the Angels were 8-1 against Boston. How did that turn out in the Division Series? In 2007, the Yankees were 6-0 against the Indians. How did that turn out in the Division Series? In 2006, the Yankees were 5-2 against the Tigers. How did that turn out in the Division Series?

How the fuck does a single game indicate how a series should turn out? The Twins have won 17 of their last 21.

Back when I was still Mogie Man, this is one I was on the lookout for and I recall being somewhat disappointed overall. I'd have to say its a below-average BN of the period. YMMV.

Picks aren't public information? Its OK if you don't have faith in your team, BTW.

I think there should be five points extra credit for every series correctly predicted for both winner and number of games it took.

I can't recall the name but I bought cheap software at Office Depot that converts PDF files into Word docs, so if you scan the pages as PDF files that would do the trick to make them editable. -
upon third reading i stumbled upon this sentence btw (by michael fitzgerald) "There's another 1967 Dorham date floating around out there with: Kenny Dorham, Gene Harris, Victor Sproles, Jimmy Lovelace, Joe Lee Wilson." I'm kind of glad I missed this the first time around because then I'd be more disappointed that its never shown up. Does Mike know that tapes exist? You'd think they'd be out there in collector's circles if there were.

Don't sweat it, according to Timmy, you missed "incredibly bad" baseball. The friggin' loon.

20 hours to first pitch. How long can they possibly spend doing the champagne thing? They need to get the hell out of there or they'll be zombies tomorrow.

And I thought my wish would be the kiss of death. Now there is one more warm "weather" playoff spot.

Leyland should be arrested for Closer Abuse. What is this, four innings by Rodney? While I thought that Verlander might be able to lift the Tigers over the MFY, between the fact that the Twins have been playing well for quite a while and have a better bullpen than the Tigers, I have to hope the Twins win - despite their embarrassing history against the Yankees and lack of any ace starters.
-
What, you're pissed off that The Office marathon is being preempted?
-
And what the home plate ump takes, he gives back. Must be the idiot who worked the plate for that Angels-Red Sox game, completely oblivious to the bottom of the strike zone. Without a doubt should have been strike three, instead the next pitch goes for a go-ahead double. How sad for the Twins if they can't come back.
-
Great game so far and in extras I am sure the end will be even more exciting. But what a ridiculous gift the umps gave Nathan and the Twins with runners at first and third and no outs. I'm not even sure Eric Gregg calls that a strike.

That's cool; thanks Chuck.

How about details of the rest of the band?

I've heard this already (Bob is a friend). You guys are gonna be happy! Can you share with us the rest of the group, Jack? And can you comment on the sound? Was it original soundboard or was it taped off the air? There have been other KD radio shows released as CDs - Westwind had one, iirc - and between the compression on the broadcast and however many tape generations it went through, the sound was pretty godawful.

When the Dupree Bolton Uptown was seemingly imminent, Chuck told us his association with Uptown was kaput.

Conn, I believe that the greatest of all time was Terry Bradshaw. I think that he was the most accurate passer of all time, often throwing between three defenders to get the ball to Lynn Swann. Its very hard to sustain a "most accurate passer of all-time" claim when you consider that overall, there was a 50/50 chance a Bradshaw pass was caught by the guy wearing the right uniform (51.9% lifetime completion rate). Bradshaw was a great QB but simply cannot rank in the top five. I'm not sure he's a top 10 but he's surely not top 5. Chad Finn of the Globe has an interesting take on the question of all-time QBs, riffing off of Peter King's SI piece.
-
If Uptown's track record is any indication, we'll be posting about this recording's imminent release sometime around Christmas 2010. Nevertheless great news!

You're probably right but the beauty of baseball is that anything can happen. Leeland was quoted heading into September that nothing is guaranteed, considering how many inter-division games they had. Boy was he right. Either way this is a gift to the MFY. I can only hope that the "anything can happen" applies to the DS too.
