  1. I have no doubt, but I'll say good luck anyway! Absolutely. Good luck Dan. Thanks. I didn't mention the follow up resolution: Buy back all of the CDs I sold.
  2. To make a new financial start towards, I hope, a secure future. I should have a clean slate and I hope that what I am just getting started on will succeed, even in these difficult times.
  3. Talk about the sins of the father. Would you have explained why you kicked him in the balls afterwards?
  4. Well that's the part I didn't know.
  5. But only one who still posts here regularly : Rooster Ties . I'm sure I'm not alone in finding it bizarre that during the 3 1/2 years since his blindfold test , he found lots of time for many , many posts , and yet no time to provide the answers to disc two of his blindfold test . That's just not cricket . Shouldn't that be Rooster Ties?
  6. I'm not a musician but three breakdowns on "Ill Wind"? Doesn't that seem like one or two more than you'd expect?
  7. That really is a shock. I too remember reading Andromeda Strain, after I saw the original movie adaptation. I stopped reading him a long time ago but sad news nonetheless.
  8. It just works out that way?
  9. Taking on the job of uploading is a fine idea, I think. If Al becomes the repository of answers, however, I will certainly take it upon myself to do in depth study of his rate of correct answers before and after this is adopted. Should his rate rise, even from .01% to .02%, you can be assured that I will jump in with a J'ACCUSE! However, I do not think an address compilation is necessary. Its hardly too much trouble to send a PM and let the compiler keep tabs on them.
  10. Dumb question of the day: I don't get it.... Its a reference to something Chris shared in his "Found" thread. Basically Driggs was a bad guy who claimed to own the rights to certain historic photos and would "earn" money by "licensing" them or else try to extort money for "unauthorized" use.
  11. UPDATE: PLEASE DISREGARD THIS LISTING - I AM NO LONGER SOLICITING BIDS, MOST OF THESE LPs CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...p=0&#entry0 WHERE THEY HAVE A SET PRICE OF $3 EACH, BUY 5 AND IT BECOMES $2 EACH. THE LPs NO LONGER LISTED WILL GO TO EBAY. THANKS TO ALL PARTICIPANTS. Rules are the same as last time: Lorez Alexandria, Early in the Morning (Argo) With the Ramsey Lewis trio and a bunch of "Basie Cats", this is my favorite Alexandria LP, a must have if you are a fan. VG+ (very slight edge wear) / VG+ Curtis Amy & Frank Butler, Groovin' Blue (Toshiba Japan – Pacific Jazz) NM/VG+ Curtis Amy, Tippin on Through (Pacific Jazz) VG- (rippling on the cover, small seam split, browning on the back) VG- Curtis Amy & Paul Bryant, Meetin' Here (Pacific Jazz) VG+/VG+ Curtis Amy, Mustang (Verve) Bought sealed, played once NM (does have a hole punch) / NM Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers Play Selections From Golden Boy (Colpix) VG+/VG+ George Bohanon, Boss: Bossa Nova (Workshop Jazz) VG (hole punch, edge wear, some browning, small sticker on front) VG Donald Byrd & Gigi Gryce, Xtacy (Trip) I believe this is the recording that hasn't seen reissue, it has the somewhat large half-naked black lady on the cover VG+ (edge wear, hole punch, slight ring wear) / NM Chicago Scene (Argo) One of the rarest Argo titles – Sandy Mosse, Jimmy Gourley among best known in group VG (tape repair to two of three sides but otherwise pretty nice) / VG – VG+ Arnett Cobb and the Muse All-Stars, Live at Sandy's (Muse) Buddy Tate, Cleanhead, Ray Bryant, Alan Dawson and George Duvivier VG (clipped corner; some rub wear, price sticker on front, name stamped on back) VG+ Al Cohn & Zoot Sims, Motoring Along (Sonet) With Horace Parlan VG+ (price sticker on front, bit of an indent in upper right of back cover) / VG+ George Coleman, At Yoshi's (Theresa) VG+ / VG- Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis & Bill Doggett, Midnight Slows Volume 10 (Black & Blue) NM but for price sticker on back / VG+ Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Love Calls (RCA Victor) With Paul Gonsalves – one of the best Lock recordings that hasn't seen domestic CD issue, truly a shame that few people know this one. VG + (price sticker on front, ring wear) / VG but plays better, few noises to distract from a great late night set (side 1 is noisier) Jean DuShon, Feeling Good (Cadet) 5 of 12 tracks arranged by Oliver Nelson VG+ (in shrink, slight ring wear) / VG+ - VG Art Farmer, The Many Faces Of (Scepter) VG (edge wear, price sticker, ring wear) / VG Flutes & Reeds (Savoy) Ernie Wilkins, Frank Wess, Jerome Richardson, Hank Jones, Eddie Jones, Kenny Clarke One of those Savoys that I don't think every got reissued! VG+ / VG Dexter Gordon, All Souls' (Dexterity) Surely the very rarest in Dex's discography. Double LP recorded live with the Rob Agerbeek Trio. VG due to small seam splits at the bottom center of both sleeves, ring wear, and a small tear at the upper left front effecting the "R" in "Rob". VG to VG- Dexter Gordon, Billie's Bounce (SteepleChase) Dexter in Radioland Volume 7 NM/NM Dexter Gordon, It's You or No One (SteepleChase) Dexter in Radioland Volume 6 VG+/VG+ Dexter Gordon, King Neptune (SteepleChase) Dexter in Radioland Volume 3 VG+ / NM Dexter Gordon, I Want More (SteepleChase) Dexter in Radioland Volume 4 VG+ (most wear of any of these Dexters, to the corners particularly) / NM Dexter Gordon, Cheese Cake (SteepleChase) Dexter in Radioland Volume 2 NM / NM Dexter Gordon, The Shadow of Your Smile (SteepleChase) VG+ / VG+ Dexter Gordon, After Hours (SteepleChase) VG+ / NM Bennie Green Swings The Blues (Mount Vernon Music) VG / VG (plays much better though) Al Grey, Night Song (Argo) With Billy Mitchell, Dave Burns, Bobby Hutcherson VG+ (nice front, brown stains on back) / VG+ Al Grey, Boss Bone (Argo) VG (hole punch, rub wear lower left, browning on back) / VG+ Johnny Griffin, Bush Dance (Galaxy) Demo stamp; has original Galaxy inserts (a bio and a reprint of a Washington Post article) VG (white writing on front, "endless supply of licks"; ring wear) VG to VG- Johnny Griffin, Jazz a Confronto (Horo – Japanese pressing) One of the best Griff LPs of all, this has a color photo of the Little Giant doing his thing NM/NM Johnny Griffin, Jazz a Confronto (Horo) Less sturdy jacket than copy listed above – this has a sort of modern art cover VG (tape on open end, general wear, tear on back mars "Joh" at top left of back cover) NM vinyl Johnny Griffin, Jazz Jamboree 63 Volume 2 (Polskie Nagrania) Another rare one, this Polish release commemorates a Warsaw concert that included Kenny Drew with Griff VG (price sticker residue, ring wear, edge wear) / VG+ (mostly clean, play testing revealed the very occasional pop, excellent sound overall) Johnny Griffin (Argo) Seventies reissue, black and white cover VG- (pretty bad ring wear, notch in cover) / VG+ Jimmy Grissom, World of Trouble – Lowdown blues and lonely ballads (Argo) VG+ (hole punch, little bit of writing on back) / VG+ Gene Harris Trio, Live at Otter Crest (Bosco) VG+ / VG+ Richard "Groove" Holmes, A Bowl of Soul (Loma) VG- (big writing on front (signatures), same on back plus commentary next to titles) VG Illinois Jacquet, Midnight Slows Volume 8 (Black & Blue) NM (price sticker on back) / VG+ Willis 'Gator Tail' Jackson, Mellow Blues (Trip) With George Benson and Baby Cortez VG (hole punch, ring wear, sticker residue on back) / VG+ Willis 'Gator Tail' Jackson, Funky Reggae (Trip) With George Benson and Baby Cortez VG+ / VG+ Eddie Jefferson, The Main Man (Inner City) VG+ (edge wear) / VG+ Budd Johnson, Ya! 12. So I'm finally starting to grade the last group of LPs for my sale, and I notice one of those "Distributed by" stickers on the back of a Lockjaw-Doggett Black & Blue release - only its not the infamous Rick Ballard Imports, its "Master Takes Inc." of Whitehall, MI. I take it this was yours, Chuck? Is the phone number still good?
  13. Only Lee and Hank rate higher as a frontline for me than Morgan and Golson (but the Columbia Messengers album is in a category by itself).
  14. Good lord. Comparing Madonna to grunge or punk is just plain weird. That's like being in a conversation about jazz and piping up with "well, I like that Kenny G guy..." Them's fightin' words, Mr. Moose.
  15. Check your email - the paypal one.
  16. If the popular culture is a cesspool, why not ignore it and risk "being out of touch with what's happening around you"?
  17. If I was in high school in the early 80s, what was I supposed to be into? Madonna? Clearly I have the good sense, taste and judgment not to follow the lemmings.
  18. Since Vee Jay won't release them, I could offer one of Baby Face Willette's singles recorded before he left Chicago for NY.
  19. Got it twice, responded once.
  20. Unless he's so bogged down in administrative work, as the article implies.
  21. I've updated the list for prices of sold items, still pending on a few, and obviously there are some nice records still available.
  22. It does work great - I get the last word after consistently showing how foolish you can be (18 quality starts, one of the lowest BAA in the league? GET RID OF HIM!) (Hasn't played third base in six years, made a boatload of errors whenever he did? Sign him and put him at the Hot Corner!).
  23. Not to be the turd in the punch bowl but is Chambers offering private lessons? He's been hired by the school of music to teach its students. That doesn't mean you can walk in and get lessons.
