  4. Gee, and I thought there'd be a question about Son of Sam John David Stutts Buckwheat I guess everyone here knows their Joe Piscopo-era SNL sketches pretty well.

  7. I can understand the appeal, but that wasn't a day at the park, that was something else entirely. Part of the baseball experience is the plastic seat and the waiting in line. Its also the sun on your face and the smell of the grass, the yells of the vendors, etc. You didn't get none of that in your "luxury" box.
  8. Marty, Its hard to say that the O's aren't for real, given their bats, but I have to wonder about whether their pitching will hold up. But then again, the Yanks proved last year that you can have inconsistent pitching and bomb your way to 100+ wins. Talk to me in July, but at this point I would not count out the possibility that the Yanks or the Sox will be on the outside looking in come October, as the Orioles may break up the Division or Wild Card streak.
  9. You don't get no respect until: You get the man's record right (5-0) You WIN something other than the division lead on May 1.
  10. Deos that mean the Curtis Amy is available? Surely this is the only known video of Dupree Bolton. I think there are only 2 sound recordings on which he plays. At some point it was (I borrowed the tape from a board member) but if you notice my post above yours, it appears that something may be happening with Frank Evans and his Frankly Jazz broadcasts.
  11. Interesting stat from Peter Gammons today: Conclusions: Maybe the White Sox [can think about printing playoff tickets; The Yanks have put themselves behind the 8-ball: Since 1976, out of 36 teams that had a winning percentage betwee .400 and .449 on May 1, only 2 have made the play-offs. On the other hand, none of those 36 teams had a 205 million dollar payroll.
  12. Just got off the phone with Bill. Last week, Bob Rusch told me he'd be interested in a Dowdy interview for Cadence and Bill just agreed to do it!
  13. BTW, I stumbled across a page for that "Frankly Jazz" show http://www.franklyjazz.com/ Unfortunately, its just a home page, the links are just placeholders, but it now says "check back next week for our webpage premier" so maybe there's hope that the TV shows, or his radio broadcasts might be available soon? I sent an email to the contact addy but haven't gotten a response. but if something changes, I'll let y'all know.

  15. Well, in some cases, you suddenly realize that someone has stopped posting but you don't actually have regular email contact - you're just curious, so by posting you might find out from the guy's friends what is up.

  17. Yes, Paul has it. I wasn't sure if that was kosher or not, if you're supposed to go directly to Grover and then build off of that ...
  18. Number one at the box office this weekend, so unless word of mouth kills it, it will probably be around for a while.
  19. Well, we need to hook up soon so I can give you the current box of reels back and get started on the rest!

  24. Thanks, Lon. Myself, I was really wondering about it because the commercial I saw made it look like some dumb special effects epic. My wife and I loved the books and enjoyed the BBC show, but I wasn't sure about the movie. Now I've seen one positive review (in the Times) and one negative review (Ebert, who went into it knowing nothing about the books and thought that it was too much of an inside joke that no one who hadn't read the books would understand). I think its on the "want to see" list now.
