Bad News ....BUT his doctor did say he would need surgery and the Sox balked. You wonder if he had the surgery back in Feb. if he would be ready for the stretch drive ?

Unreal. Crawford goes first-pitch slam and a 1-0 game at the end of the 6th is 8-3 at the end of the 7th. ... H - o - l - y s - h - i - t. EDIT: small correction ... it was a 1-0 pitch. The National League stinks , i mean the Sox just beat Philly without Manny and Ortiz and shuting them out in one game. The fact that the Rays beat the Cubs doesn't surprise me , its just a matter of time before the Cubs implode especially with Piniella the most overrated manager in the majors. Though i will admit a Cubs Vs Red Sox world series would be great ...if the Cubbies could even win a game ?

No kidding? That's pretty cool. I've always dug his work with the Chicago soul scene, probably my favorite soul region, if you will. Long before I really knew who he was, I found "A Date with Pate" on King. Struck me as a little lightweight at the time (I was heavy into Roland Kirk at the time) but I hung on to it. I ought to dig that up this afternoon and give it another spin. Anyone pick up the recent reissue of Outrageous by Pate that Dustygroove put out ?. Its very good !

The first 2 shows didn't have the theme with words , it was all instrumental . I'm wonderin when they switched to the lSammy Davis version , which is also quite different has more of a disco feel to it.

Just bought Hogans Heroes - season 1 and Baretta season 1 ..watched the first 2 episodes last night ,WOW a lot of on location shooting and nighttime shooting . Unlike Columbo which was shot on studio sets and it shows, with Baretta its more gritty.

zen archer replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Are we Having one hell of a stretch here in Boston or what ?.....6 championships in what 7 years !!! Still can't believe that Vegas or anyone else thought the Lakers could take the Celts ..Defense , Defense thats what wins championships! -
i didn't catch last nights game ,but i did see Colon swinging and Remy kept saying he hurt his back by swinging. But the disable list ???....something else must be up ? Dan, i agree about Timlin i think he is done ! I am surprised he even came back this year.

Jazz CD set price sale - between $2 and $8 per disc
zen archer replied to felser's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Hi, Felser Received my CDs thanks , great stuff !!!! -
Just finished watching Sports Final on WBZ here in Boston and they had Sean McAdam from the Providence journal on. He said that some of the Red Sox veterans are upset with Youk for throwing things around the dugout and complaining about balls and strikes. I guess Youk flied out to the warning track and when he came back he started to throw stuff around the dugout and Manny told him to cut that crap out . So thats why they went at it.

In the post game interview asked about the scratches on his face Coco said that Tampa fought like little girls .......that is sure to add some fire to that late June series in Tampa. What the heck is a Haymaker ?

He was sending a message , when he had slid into 2nd on a previous play the SS put his leg in front of the bag. Crisp thought he could get injured because of that , you know broken finger... anyway in his post game interview he was not a happy camper. He pretty much said you try to hurt me and i'll hurt you .....Dave McCarty backed him up on the post game . I didn't see the first play at 2nd, but I don't believe playing in front of the bag is generally regarded as intent to injure. The defensive player is supposed to do that, no? (If he was moving his leg to the bag as Crisp was reaching it, then I see that as dangerous.) Crisp's slide was pretty aggressive. I know the need to send the message that we're the big bad Red Sox and don't fuck with us at Fenway, but Crisp could have easily injured Aki on that slide, it looked to me. ... But like I say, I didn't see the play that apparently sparked the retaliation. ... Well, I believe it was the SS put his whole leg down in front of the bag . Coco was sliding head first with his hand out in front and nothing but LEG !.....the ball did get away . Usually you don't see a player put his leg in front of the bag so you cant get at it , the player is usually in front of the bag and swipes at the player with his glove . Coco was probably upset cause if you remember he broke his his finger a few years back sliding into 3rd. You know if players slid in with their spikes this wouldn't be a concern , the guy would get spiked !

Well no one is jumping ship just yet, this is the time for Drew to show what he is made off. The Sox have plenty of talent to overcome this . remember in April Ortiz had one of the worse months in history and the Sox had one of their BEST months. And all that despite a HORRID schedule ...give them a break ,still one of the best records in baseball and the schedule will start to slant in their favor . They said half tear , some doctor on ESPN said 4-6 weeks ......they can get thru it and get everyone healthy for after the all star break.

Well all i know is that at the beginning of the year they ( Remy, Eck..) Said that Beckett last year had to have a talk with Bucholz about being a big leaguer and taking it seriously ........i dunno .....who knows what goes on during days off on the road . ( remember Derek Lowe) Well, last year I didn't have MLB.tv so I wasn't hearing what Remy said and wouldn't hear Eck regardless. But I find it interesting that Beckett would talk about leadership qualities. He doesn't like to hear about being an ace or being anything other than a starter who needs to do his best every time out. He hasn't struck me as any sort of leader or anyone who embraces a leadership role. If you told me that Schill had the talk with Clay, I'd believe it. But not Beckett. Dan, I FOUND it go to this link at Comcast Sportsnet http://fsnnewengland.com/video.jsp?bcpid=1...bctid=525643848 and look for the video of Beckett 1on 1 with Dave Briggs. Around the seven minute mark Briggs says that Beckett RIPPED into Bucholz and told him that a lot of people are counting on him and that he didn't want to end up as a wasted guy who works in a bar down the road talking about how he once had a promising future. SEE , i knew i remembered this !

In fact the more i think about it, an interviewer asked Beckett about his leadership qualities in the clubhouse and made reference to his talking to Buckholz.

What? Its gotta be a toss up between "Smoke On The Water" and "25 or 6 to 4". You are all WRONG ...when i started playing Bass my teacher had me play "On top of old smokey "....over ...and over.. and over.....

Remy said last night that they want Bucholz to work on his fastball , better command of it and also that he pitches backwards throwing his breaking pitches to start off hitters. He does have a decent fastball 92-94 . Maybe his arm slot has something to do with it , but the way they were talking it was a confidence matter. But anyway this doesn't surprise me at all , i expected Bucholz to be sent down as i thought the wisdom was to limit his innings ?.......and with Colon pitching well they really don't need Clay now. Clay needs more seasoning , wasn't he goofing off last year and Beckett needed to talk to him....

Also from last night , Varitek became the first catcher to catch 4 No Hitters( Nomo, Lowe,Bucholz,Lester)_ , Yogi Berra has 3. And the last time the Royals were no hit was by a pitcher named Nolan Ryan.

What a Game !!!.....very touching moment when Francona hugged Lester.

I'm not worried about pitching , this week finally Colon gets a start and if he stays healthy this could be a GREAT pick up. ( wouldn't the Yankees like to have him ) Schill says he feels great , they have Masterson starting this week, though he has slumped a little down in the minors. The biggest concern is Beckett , to me he just doesn't seem into it ?...maybe a WS hangover ....i dunno his velocity is there but his head isn't!
