  2. Happy Birthday JCR1992!
  3. Happy Birthday 2015 wesbed!
  4. The Toronto Star is reporting today that Angelo Mosca was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. http://www.thestar.com/sports/football/2015/02/27/sports-giant-angelo-mosca-copes-with-alzheimers.html
  5. Here is the latest regarding the free agents: http://www.tsn.ca/2015-cfl-free-agent-tracker-1.155639 As you can see, the Als had a huge number, but so far only one has signed elsewhere. There are quite a number of names still available, but many of these guys are long in the tooth. Maybe the general managers are looking to go toward youth. Maybe the teams will wait until after the draft to sign these guys... JR LaRose Jordan Matechuk Quincy Butler Hugh Charles Luca Congi Rennie Curran Marcellus Bowman Bakari Grant Dahrran Diedrick Josh Bartel Diamond Ferri Jason Barnes Maurice Mann Romby Bryant Glenn January Looking at that list, I have to think that the careers of a lot of those guys might be over. I won't take the time to see how many are over 30, but I'm guessing it's quite a few. ***** In 2013, the Edmonton nominee for the CFL Awards for both Rookie of the Year and Special Teams was Eric Samuels. The Eskimos released him today. http://esks.com/article/eskimos-release-db-eric-samuels ***** Joey Moss, the Edmonton Locker Room Attendant since 1984, was named to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame today. He was born with Down Syndrome, and has proven to be an excellent employee. http://cfl.ca/article/joey-moss-named-to-alberta-sports-hall-of-fame
  6. I see that the two "in Tokyo" Chet Baker Estate CDs are currently not available at Amazon today. I wonder what's up.
  7. Happy Birthday Noj!
  8. ESPN's Adam Caplan is reporting that Detroit will sign former Bomber Philip Hunt. http://espn.go.com/blog/detroit-lions ***** Here's Six Degrees of Bacon, CFL-style. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/cfl-55-yard-line/six-degrees-of-canadian-bacon--tracing-cfl-history-and-the-league-s-connections-to-movie-stars-000705323.html
  9. The league made public today the names of the college players who have been invited to attend this year's combines. http://cfl.ca/article/combine-season-2015-combine-lists-revealed
  10. Bev, a few months ago I was given a promo by ECM of a Scandinavian folksinger named Sinikka Langeland. The album is called Starflowers. I didn't review it because I didn't think anyone here would be interested. It's the only Scandinavian folk music I have ever heard, so I don't know how to compare it to others of that genre. I enjoy it because it is unique in my collection. I can't say that I understand it, or that it's up your alley, but you might like it too. Attention Bev! Sinikka Langeland has a new album out with Trygve Seim called The Half-Finished Heaven.
  11. The record industry has decided that it will release new music on Fridays throughout the world. http://news.yahoo.com/music-industry-moves-friday-global-album-release-131728097.html;_ylt=AwrSyCUWVe9UAiMAoOjQtDMD
  12. Happy Birthday 2015 Michel!
  13. Today I received an email from daytrotter, saying that they have a new policy. One may, without paying, stream two songs of your choice from each and every recording session they have (over 5,000).
  14. The Als have signed both Nik Lewis and Dan LeFevour. IMO, Lewis should have retired. He hasn't been the same since he was injured. Lefevour had the league's third best quarterback rating last year (behind Bo Levi Mitchell and Ricky Ray), but it's not a sure thing that he will be able to come back from his injury either. http://www.tsn.ca/alouettes-sign-qb-lefevour-1.215830 http://cfl.ca/article/fa15-lefevour-catches-on-with-alouettes http://www.tsn.ca/longtime-stamps-sb-lewis-signs-with-alouettes-1.215986 http://cfl.ca/article/fa15-end-of-an-era-lewis-heads-east-to-als ***** I don't usually post about players remaining with their teams, but rather concentrate on player movement. However, it's noteworthy that the Ticats have signed both CJ Gable and Nic Grigsby. That tandem might produce an offense hard to stop. http://www.tsn.ca/ticats-lock-up-rbs-gable-grigsby-1.214528 http://cfl.ca/article/fa15-ticats-add-another-rb-with-grigsby-signing http://cfl.ca/article/staying-in-tigertown-gable-signs-extension-with-cats
  15. Let's catch up. The people who do the Madden NFL computer game have done a game for the CFL, but they don't plan to release it. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/cfl-55-yard-line/madden-developers-built-cfl-video-game-won-t-001431300.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory&soc_trk=tw ***** Both Chris Thompson and Rod Williams have signed with the Als. http://cfl.ca/article/alouettes-add-pair-of-veterans ***** Remember Greg Knox who was with the Stamps for most of the '90s? He has joined the Bombers as their linebackers coach. http://www.tsn.ca/blue-bombers-hire-knox-as-lb-coach-1.211907 ***** Jermaine Copeland spent last year completing his degree at U. Tennessee. Now that that's done, he has joined the Riders as their new receivers coach. http://cfl.ca/article/riders-add-copeland-chapdelaine-to-coaching-staff http://www.tsn.ca/roughriders-add-copeland-as-wr-coach-1.212365 ***** Brian Peters has signed with Minnesota. http://www.tsn.ca/former-roughriders-lb-peters-signs-with-vikings-1.214150
  16. Thanks, Michael!
  17. I had no idea she recorded for Reprise. Was that in the mid-'60s?
  18. I've been listening to this the past few days, and I've been enjoying it. It's a piano trio, but because the bassist is the leader, he's louder than the bass usually is. That aspect reminds me of Scott LaFaro with Bill Evans.
  19. Happy Birthday 2015 trane_fanatic!
  20. It sounded to me like The Four Tops sang "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" instead of "Sugar Pie, Honey Bun."
  21. Happy Birthday Mike!
  22. I have received a PM from Hans assuring me that he is alive and well!
  23. This article says that Carlsberg is working on a bottle which is100% biodegradable, including the cap. I've always understood that the argument in favor of glass is that it in no way changes the taste of the bottle's contents. So I guess we will see if Carlsberg can create a non-glass container which similarly will not change the taste. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/02/20/carlsberg-is-developing-on-clinking-biodegradable-beer-bottle/?intcmp=features
  24. I have received a PM informing me that Hans passed away last year. Is this true?
  25. Happy Birthday 2015 Hans!
