I receive a couple of emails a week from oldies.com. Over the weekend I went window shopping over there, and I was surprised to see an unadvertised special: free shipping for orders over $35. I have to think that they are doing this to match Amazon's new policy.

Here's a column from last Monday by Matt Dunigan in which he analyzes the playoffs' quarterbacks. http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/matt_dunigan/?id=435856 ***** Hamilton Tiger-Cats 19....Montreal Alouettes 16 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4638794 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=436312 http://www.cfl.ca/statistics/statsGame/id/10713 Very low scoring game. It was raining and windy in Guelph. CJ Gable scored late in the fourth quarter to give the Ticats the lead, but the Als came back to tie it at 13 with a Sean Whyte field goal as time expired. In OT, the Als got a FG, and Dan LeFevour quarterback-sneaked it in from two yards out to win it. ***** Saskatchewan Roughriders 29....British Columbia Lions 25 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4638852 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=436328 http://www.cfl.ca/statistics/statsGame/id/10715 The Lions dominated the first 3 1/2 quarters of the game, but the Riders came back with 13 unanswered points in the fourth to win it. It was very cold in Regina. Chris Milo put the Riders ahead for good with a field goal.

Thanks, Jeff. Now that I think about it, I know you're right.

Like Jim, I don't know how to vote either.

I got that Shakti album as part of the McLaughlin OAC box in the spring for Easter. I haven't opened it up yet. I guess I should! http://www.amazon.com/Original-Album-Classics-John-Mclaughlin/dp/B000UH8BT0/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1384052692&sr=1-1&keywords=john+mclaughlin+original+album+classics

I ordered Volume 2, and Amazon emailed me tonight that it has shipped. For whatever reason, they are promising that it will be delivered Monday the 11th rather than Tuesday the 12th. I thought all albums are released on Tuesdays. I plan to save mine for under the Christmas tree.

Brad, are you referring to Miles' Cellar Door box? I think that that was 1969, wasn't it?

I am not aware of a store which carries a selection of new jazz CDs in this area. To be precise, the only seller of new CDs that I am aware of is Walmart, and they sell mostly Hispanic material.

CFL.ca Semi-Finals picks http://cfl.ca/page/cflca-writers-make-their-semi-final-predictions ***** There is a new book out about the league's expansion into the US called End Zones & Border Wars by Ed Willes. Last year for Christmas I received the author's book on the WHA called The Rebel League, and I enjoyed it very much. http://blogs.theprovince.com/2013/11/06/new-cfl-book-nice-trip-down-memory-lane/ http://www.amazon.com/End-Zones-Border-Wars-Expansion/dp/1550176145/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1383947535&sr=1-3&keywords=Ed+willes

Neil Young has a new album coming out Dec. 10 - Live at the Cellar Door. The current Amazon price is $10.99. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G34XP3Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This was recorded in late 1970. i remember it well. I did not go to see him that week, but I remember the story. A buddy of mine worked as a waiter at the Cellar Door, and he told me that Young didn't want to be there. He had signed the contract months earlier, and then his career took off. He could have made a lot more playing arenas, but he was contractually obligated to do this gig. Needless to say, it was standing room only.

Is anyone familiar with a Canadian haberdasher named Mark's? I have seen their ad on the cfl.ca website the past couple of days. Yesterday it was announced that they are sponsoring this year's playoffs. http://www.sportspromedia.com/news/marks_touches_down_for_101st_grey_cup/
