mjzee, twenty years ago I lived in Atlanta. There was a coffee shop there owned and operated by John Martinez. For reasons that I never knew, Mr. Martinez was the subject of articles in both the New York Times and USA Today, blown up copies of which he had proudly on display. Mr. Martinez explained to me his view of how to make the proper cup of coffee. It was his opinion that any drip coffee maker would do. He said that you should first boil water in the microwave, and then pour the water into a thermos carafe. Then you make your coffee. By that time the water has heated the carafe, so you immediately pour our the water, and pour in the coffee.
