Maybe 20 years ago a judge in Ontario ruled that laws prohibiting women from going topless in public were unconstitutional because Ontario has an equal rights amendment, and men could go topless legally. So the Argonauts and Blue Jays promptly announced that men would not be allowed to take their shirts off at the ballgames. To my knowledge, that policy has never been enforced by either team. Lawrence Tynes was treated late last week for a penicillin-resistant infection called MRSA. He needed toe surgery to scrape out the infection. It was Tynes' right foot. Is that his kicking foot? The ECM album was nothing like what I expected, so I guess I haven't liked it very much. I ought to return to it to give it another chance.

I was introduced to Caravan the summer of 1971 when I was given a copy of Grey and Pink. I wore that and If I Could out! I think I had all of them up through 1980.

I've sold the Mosaic Bud Shank box, but as I recall it included the soundtrack to Bruce Brown's surfing movie Barefoot Adventure from 1960. I saw this movie ten or more years ago on TV; as I recall on the Outdoors Channel, which became Versus, which became NBC Sports. It was enjoyable enough if you like to watch surfing. I see that the DVD is now available pretty cheap, so I think I will pick it up, and listen closely to the music this time. By the way, I recall the Mosaic booklet to say that Bud Shank's record of this was the first Pacific Jazz release to earn royalty payments. I thought of another two games I've seen that rank pretty highly. Both were from the 80s. One was a 1983 USFL playoff game between the Philadelphia Stars and the Chicago Blitz. That was the best game I have ever attended. The other was a game on ESPN about 1988 - an Australian rules football game between the Hawthorn Hawks and somebody, maybe North Melbourne. I remember Gary Buckanara kicking the winning goal as time expired.
