  1. Here's someone you might remember.
  2. Thanks for that heads up, mjzee! I was given a few small gift cards, including one for $25, which I spent on this. It arrived today. I was fortunate to place my order the day before Amazon sold out at this price. I see that today Amazon has it for $64.99, which when you think about it is not unreasonable for 15 classic albums.
  3. BTW, Pamela Anderson is not a nobody. She was Canada's Centennial Baby. She was the first baby born in Canada on July 1, 1967, the centennial of Canada's becoming a Dominion (somewhat akin to our independence), and was feted nationally as such!
  4. Tom, I can see that you've been concentrating on Criss Cross for a while now.
  5. The Argos today said goodbye to Cleo Lemon. Lots of comments following the articles. http://www.theglobea...article2154648/ http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375236 ***** Here are the new TSN power rankings. [1] Winnipeg: Still in top spot despite loss to Riders[2] Calgary: Hold on second position tenuous after rout by Esks[3] Hamilton: Impressive win over Alouettes in statement game[4] Montreal: Dogfight for East Division title continues[5] Edmonton: Back on track with blowout win over Stampeders[6] B.C.: Gathering steam with win over woeful Argonauts[7] Saskatchewan: Could this be the turning point of the season?[8] Toronto: Offence in turmoil, especially at quarterbackhttp://www.tsn.ca/cfl/
  6. Justice Sotomajor?
  7. Dave, I think I saw that photo recently. Is it Michelle Bachmann?
  8. Correct, Chuck! I figured you would remember what she looked like at a younger age. I met her in a department store in suburban DC in 1974. I think she was there to promote something with her name on it, maybe a perfume. She was in her mid-forties then, and still looked great!
  9. Try this one!
  10. Brandon Browner has made the Seattle Seahawks. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375115 It looks like Cincinnati has offered a practice roster spot to Matt O'Donnell. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375088 Cincinnati has also offered a practice roster spot to Andrew Hawkins. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375080 John Chick declined the Indianapolis Colts' offer of a practice roster spot, and instead decided to join the Jacksonville Jaguars practice roster. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375176 ***** Both underdogs (I assume) won blowouts in today's Labor Day games. Hamilton Tiger-Cats 44....Montreal Alouettes 21 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375207 http://64.246.64.33/...aspx?id=4434396 Sean Whyte missed a field goal after making 24 straight. I'm not sure, but I think that the league record is 25. ***** Edmonton Eskimos 35....Calgary Stampeders 7 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375223 http://64.246.64.33/...aspx?id=4434440 Calgary's offense had only one real drive the entire game.
  11. This is due out tomorrow in the US. Here is the email I received about it. Ricardo Villalobos/Max Loderbauer - Re: ECM Berlin-based DJs and composers Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer - two of the best-known names in contemporary electronica - share their admiration for music on ECM in a unique double-album of specially-created “sound-structures”. Their project “Re: ECM” will bring the label’s music to a new listenership. It is certain to be one of the most talked-about albums of the season. Using original ECM recordings as a starting point, Villalobos and Loderbauer create new music that bridges several worlds, including ECM’s world of space-conscious improvisation and composition and the worlds of ambient electronics and minimal techno. Source materials on “Re: ECM” include recordings of Christian Wallumrød, Alexander Knaifel, Louis Sclavis, John Abercrombie, Bennie Maupin, Arvo Pärt, Wolfert Brederode, Paul Giger and more - looped, sampled, remixed and reworked in evocative new treatments. Pleased with the duo’s creative response to his productions Manfred Eicher gave them carte blanche to carry on experimenting with the ECM titles of their choice. Eicher subsequently supervised the mastering of “Re: ECM” in Munich, completing a unique sonic experience. You can hear a few excerpts, see more information and even watch a video interview with the artists (in German with English subtitles) by clicking on this link: http://player.ecmrecords.com/villalobos_loderbauer
  12. Happy Birthday sidewinder! To celebrate, I suggest the Four Freshmen Mosaic!
  13. Saskatchewan Roughriders 27....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 7 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4434067 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375167 Surprise! I was unable to listen to the game, so I can't tell you anything you can't read for yourself. With Ken Miller now coaching the Riders, it looks like we can expect the Argos to be the worst team in the league unless Steven Jyles comes off the injured list to have his best year ever.
  14. Don't rub it in!
  15. Otis Floyd announced his retirement today. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375145
  16. Correct, Jack! I'm a little surprised that you got that one, as her mouth looks different to me.
  17. Yes, I remembered that DS al Coda release after I went to bed! ESPN used a track from that as their theme music to their boxing matches in the late 80s. I'm jealous that you got to see Henry Cow and National Health! I lived in Pittsburgh in the 70s, and it was easier to find the import records of the Canterbury groups in the record shops than it was to find jazz.
  18. Thanks Bev! I had all (Was it only two?) of National Health's albums back in the day, and I got another from Cuneiform about ten years ago. Fond memories!
  19. This one isn't obvious.
  20. I notice that the OP link now says that the concert is sold out! Doug Ramsey had a note about this the other day - specifically that the fact that it will be at the Blue Note is a sign of the times. We're a month ahead of Doug Ramsey!
  21. What is the show listed above you are referring to? Do you have a link?
  22. spotify: Herbie Mann - Memphis Underground
  23. spotify: Gerry Mulligan - The Original Quartet with Chet Baker
  24. Today was NFL cutdown day. Matt O'Donnell was cut by the Bengals. Hopefully he'll sign with the Riders now. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375088 The Vikings put Emmanuel Arcineaux on their practice roster. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375067 Tom Johnson made the Saints. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375073 The Colts want to put John Chick on their practice roster, but he hasn't accepted yet, and may shop himself around. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375074 Phillip Hunt made the Eagles. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375100 Andy Fantuz is planning to rejoin the Riders immediately. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=375009
