John, you picked the game of the week! Not only was it a good game, but a big upset as far as I'm concerned. The pundits whose previews I posted last week pick BC to be a serious contender this year. My expectations of the Argos are low because they lost so many good players in free agency.

Apparently a true story. Years ago, the San Francisco Giants had a TV announcer named Gary Park. I remember watching a game in which a batter got a base hit through the right side of the infield because the second baseman left his position to cover second base when the baserunner on first was attempting to steal. Replays showed the ball being hit exactly to the spot where the second baseman was standing just prior to the pitch. Park exclaimed, in a way which was understandable, but at the same time totally preposterous: “That would have been a double play if no one was on base!”

The author was the engineer, and sometimes also the producer, of a number of very popular rock albums between 1965 and 1974. Tons of name dropping. Few stories would be interesting to the reader who was unfamiliar with the musicians or the albums. Not informative regarding the actions of an engineer or a producer.

Just so you know, the Stanley Cup Finals begin Saturday - Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers. In 1995, Baltimore won the Grey Cup. Wags on Twitter enjoy pointing out that an American city has won the Grey Cup more recently than a Canadian city has won the Stanley Cup. By the way, every one of the nine CFL cities has won the Grey Cup more recently than any Canadian city has won the Stanley Cup. So you would expect that everyone in Canada is rooting for Edmonton, right? Well, no. The Panthers are the Miami team. It so happens that a great many Canadians spend their winters in that area. So, many Canadians will be rooting for them rather than the Oilers.
