  1. Chinook blowing in off the Rockies? That may be right, sidewinder. The temperature is 9 degrees celsius, which is pretty warm, about 45 degrees Farenheit.
  2. end of 1st quarter: Saskatchewan Roughriders 10....Montreal Alouettes 0
  3. The game has begun, so the contest is now closed. There is a 28 kph breeze. That's 17 mph.
  4. The kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm eastern time, so our contest deadline will be delayed until then. The Als are 9.5 point favorites.
  5. mj, I think that this is an Amazon exclusive, so I'm not counting on their offering it as a remainder. Hope I'm wrong!
  6. Lala: Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense and Peppermint Ramsey Lewis Trio - In Person 1960-1967 (This includes almost all of my first jazz album, Hang On Ramsey) Joanie Sommers - Softly, the Brazilian Sound
  7. Happy Birthday 2009 felser!
  8. Last call! Good luck everyone! It snowed a bit in Calgary today, but the weatherman is predicting sunny skies for the game tomorrow. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Gre...959456-sun.html
  9. David Naylor: Six match-ups http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1381224/ ***** Vanier Cup: Queen's Golden Gaels 33....Calgary Dinos 31 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/quee...article1381514/ Calgary led 27-7 at the half.
  10. Last chance to place your order before the Grey Cup contest winner gets to choose his!
  11. Here's an article about the Grey Cup checks. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/blogs/from-...article1380489/ ***** Since the Grey Cup is being held in Calgary this year, you might enjoy looking over the next couple of days at the sports page of the Calgary Herald here: http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/footba...ders/index.html
  12. 33/38 Like everyone else, put McLaughlin instead of Mahavishnu. Also missed Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham and Michael Brecker.
  13. I don't know what my family (my sister's family, really) would know if it were not for me. The one name they know well that has not been mentioned is Vince Guaraldi. I'm sure that if I had never been born, they would still know Al Hirt, Errol Garner, Miles Davis, Stan Getz and Dave Brubeck.
  14. The CFL Awards winners were announced tonight: Calvillo Chick Foley Taylor Flory Mallett http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1379427/
  15. The Globe & Mail's website today has a terrific 30-minute podcast in which David Naylor and Allan Maki discuss the teams and the coaches. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1378785/
  16. The Vanier Cup game is for the Canadian collegiate football championship. College football isn't very popular in Canada, and not many people go to the Vanier Cup game. This year they're playing it in Quebec City. It is sold out in an 18,000 seat stadium, and the schools (Queens and Calgary) and screaming for more tickets! The organizers sold all the tickets without allotting any for the schools' fans! In addition, a bank is having its annual meeting in Quebec City at the same time, so the hotel rooms are already booked. This will be a Vanier Cup for the ages, no matter how the game goes. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nation...article1377848/
  17. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And let's remember too the purpose of the holiday!
  18. Thanks for that, Jim! I bet that TTK doesn't consider it to be totally insignificant!
  19. A review of the record book shows that this is wrong. They took four years off (1916-1919) due to World War I. http://www.thegreycup.com/
  20. Gregg Xenakes Grey Cup preview Montreal 42....Saskatchewan 27 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.../AJN4269457.htm
  21. Lots of fun, TTK! I emailed you, but I didn't see until 11:00 pm that the station wanted verification that my note wasn't spam, so I expect that you didn't get it.
  22. In regard to the Canadian Nielsen ratings, for as long as I can remember the Grey Cup game has been Canada's #1 broadcast for the year. Its ratings handily beat the Super Bowl's. Last year the Grey Cup game was moved to cable tv (TSN, Canada's equivalent of ESPN), and I read that it was expected that the Nielsen ratings would drop 10% because of it. Here is a Globe & Mail column of today that says that this year's game is expected to have the best Nielsen ratings ever. It also says that Quebec Province is the CFL's best market (in regard to television viewing). That comes as a surprise to me. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/tsn-...article1376855/
  23. I expect that many of you are not aware of the 1986 Grey Cup game, which was broadcast on ESPN. The Edmonton Eskimos were expected to pummel the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but the Ticats clobbered them from start to finish, winning 39-15.
  24. Sirius XM's Real Jazz channel is wrapping up today a long weekend in which nothing but music from this set was played. It reminded me that I prefer Miles's Prestige recordings.
  25. I'm still hoping to be invited to catesta's! If he doesn't come through, that's all right. Christmas is next month!
