  1. You're forty! You're terrific! You're the best! You're history. Happy Birthday Stefan!
  2. Happy Birthday Philly!
  3. Yesterday was the cut-down day in preparation for the regular season. Here's a good article on the teams' roster moves. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/cfl-rosters-cut-down-to-size/article1616987/
  4. Adrian McPherson tore his MCL in his left knee and will go onto the nine-game injured list. The next QB for the Als is Chris Leak, whom I feel has never been given a chance in the CFL. Of course, as long as Calvillo stays healthy, it doesn't matter. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/injuries-strike-als-back-up-qbs/article1615318/ ***** Roughriders great Ron Atchison has died at 80. I had his bubble gum card in 1964. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Saskatchewan/2010/06/23/14487196.html
  5. Belated Happy Birthday Bruce!
  6. Belated Happy Birthday PT!
  7. Belated Happy Birthday paps!
  8. After being away from the game for over a year, Matt Sheridan came into camp weighing 383 (!). So he has decided to go onto the Stamps' retired list to see if he can work his way back into game shape. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Calgary/2010/06/21/14468246.html
  9. Yesterday's results: Hamilton 38....Winnipeg 20 Calgary 41....Sask 17 Edmonton 36....BC 32 The regular season starts July 1, Canada Day (Dominion Day to those of us who are hard core) with two games. Calgary signed ex-Argo QB Cody Pickett last week, and he had a good day yesterday.
  10. Belated Happy Birthday CJ!
  11. I have a beef with Pandora. It considers Cal Tjader a Latin artist, and plays only Latin music when I want to hear him and other vibraharpists.
  12. Montreal's Bryan Chiu signed a contract to play another year, but changed his mind and retired a couple of weeks ago. I expect that he will be elected to the Hall of Fame. ***** Here are the pre-season results so far: Week A: Toronto 13 Hamilton 10 Winnipeg 34 Montreal 10 BC 19 Sask 17 Calgary 23 Edmonton 21 Week B: Montreal 31 Toronto 23
  13. Calgary's Brett Ralph retired last week.
  14. Here's the first 2010 Season Preview I've found, from TSN. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=324491
  15. I agree with Matthew and Moose. The words "no-hitter" or "perfect game" should not be mentioned. That custom is part of the fun of being a baseball fan. By the way, It Should Be You mentioned Don Larsen's perfect game. My parents had tickets to see My Fair Lady on Broadway that night, and they spent the day driving down to New York from Boston, listening the game! Some day!
  16. Hey guys, I have moved to Raleigh, and have been without internet service since the first of the month. Today I'm at the library. I'll try to catch up when I get my new ISP which I hope will be in about a week. The pre-season has started, but I haven't noticed much news.
  17. Very sorry, Ray. Best wishes to you and your family.
  18. Belated Happy Birthday Durium!
  19. I wonder if the Phillies baseball game was on TV in Philly last night. That is to say, I wonder how many fans were watching the Flyers in the Stanley Cup Finals, and therefore missed Halladay pitch a perfect game!
  20. Happy Birthday 2010 Bill!
  21. How did Chicago do during the regular season?
  22. Thanks Cliff. I saw him in Atlanta ca. 1986, and couldn't remember.
  23. How does he pronounce his last name?
  24. The first jazz concert I attended was Mongo Santamaria, 1967. Hubert Laws on flute was the standout!
  25. No one has mentioned Bobby Jaspar, whom I've always liked. When I was in college, I had a couple of Prestige albums he did, including a date with Herbie Mann that took up three LP sides. No one has mentioned James Spaulding either. I've never been much of a fan of his, but there was a time in the late 60s when it seemed like every Blue Note album had him on flute.
