  1. He's amazing, isn't he? Just curious: what's the DVD - is it the one with Mike Marshall? Yes, it came with the New Words Novas Palavras cd.
  2. Clave, I have a DVD of Hamilton de Holanda, and he's amazing! The great ones make it look easy.
  3. I've just heard a new album that I can recommend called A New Promise by guitarist Sheryl Bailey. Bailey is from Pittsburgh, and that's where this was recorded in concert. The album is her backed by the Three Rivers Jazz Orchestra. It is a tribute to Emily Remler, and includes three Remler songs. Her tone reminds me of later Jim Hall. I've never heard of her before, but this is her sixth cd. She is a professor at Berklee and the author of two instruction books. I found it at lala here: http://www.lala.com/...y/A_New_Promise
  4. I see tonight that this is now up at lala. I'm enjoying it now. http://www.lala.com/#album/360569445318162558/Stan_Getz_%26_Kenny_Barron/People_Time_-_The_Complete_Recordings
  5. Jeff Pilon has retired. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/jeff-pilon-retires-from-stampeders/article1544926/ http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Calgary/2010/04/23/13696031.html
  6. Thanks for posting this, Durium. I know very little about the subject, but I vote for Moacir Santos. I have his last album, called Choros & Allegros, and I'll plan to play it today.
  7. By the way, I made this third auction for five days instead of seven. Maybe the items I am doing now for practice are too trivial to make a difference, but I have the impression that you don't want to end an auction on a Friday or Saturday. Is that right?
  8. mellowT, I like your idea. for my next trial auction, I will experiment with having six photos. Well, now I need your help again. I've just started a third auction, the purpose of which was to display a number of photos as mellowT suggested. But instead of getting the photos displayed below the text, which I have seen in other auctions, the photos are all over by the main photo, and you have to click on them to see them. Please take a look at this, and tell me what you think. I suppose it's not asking too much of a Mosaic buyer to click on a photo, but I would prefer the photos to be right there where you can't miss them. Does anyone know how to do this? http://cgi.ebay.com/3-AA-BATTERY-CASES-EACH-HOLDS-UP-4-COLORS-/130385635459?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b96e883
  9. We live in a time when artists release an album only once a year or even less frequently. Laurie's releasing of these multi-disc sets increases the output to the level of the time when two or three albums (that is to say 120 minutes of music) a year was the norm!
  10. Great idea, mellowT! I'll do it.
  11. I've got a bid on the first auction! This is an eBay Seller who it looks like buys a lot on eBay as well. I guess he bids the minimum on lots of things planning to resell them later. It's great that I will sell something so that I can have a positive feedback record when I sell the Mosaics.
  12. Good idea, Brad. At Sandy's suggestion, I have spent $50 at Bags, Unltd. for packing materials, which I intend to pass on in the form of handling charges.
  13. Thanks Dan. I guess that means that if a Buyer doesn't put the item on his watch list, he will probably never go back to it.
  14. mellowT, I like your idea. for my next trial auction, I will experiment with having six photos. ***** I see that my Cigar Aficionado is being "watched". What does that mean?
  15. Believe it or not, at 40 years of age Jeff Garcia, though primarily looking for a job in the NFL, is willing to consider rejoining the Stampeders. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Columnists/Francis/2010/04/20/13658031-qmi.html
  16. There is an article about shaving in the new May issue of Money Magazine. An internet friend of mine was interviewed for it. I'm looking forward to picking up a copy.
  17. I wonder if the Chinese will buying up the copiers now!
  18. Thanks Sandy. I stumbled on it. They should make it obvious! I think the suggestion to practice on a few small auctions was a good idea. I know a lot more than I did 48 hours ago.
  19. Thanks for all the input! For some reason both ads state on the upper right that I intend to sell to the US, when in fact I wish to offer the items to the world. Anybody know how to change that?
  20. Jim, I don't know how to do that, but I have the perfect solution. Buy the mag and do it yourself!!!!
  21. Thanks for cheering me up!
  22. LOL! riverrat, sjarrell said just the opposite. He feels that paying extra for a term over seven days is a waste of money. I'm glad I asked here, so that I can see the differences of opinion.
  23. Very interesting that you say that, blake. sjarrell sells Mosaics on eBay, and he advised me to avoid weekends, and to try to end the auctions between 4:30 and 5:00 when people at work are wrapping up. The book talked about a feature that will delay the start of the auction, but I can't find that. There is a blank near the top of the auction page for the condition of the item, but I can't find where to fill in that blank. What do you guys think of the wood border on the second auction? It was free because I had a subtitle. Would it look better without it? I think many auctions feature too many text colors and too-fancy fonts. I don't think people interested in Mosaics want the cutsie look.
  24. I've bought a couple of things on eBay before - one auction and one Buy It Now, but I've never sold anything before. So in anticipation of my selling my Mosaics, I have read The Complete Idiot's Guide to eBay. It suggested that you practice with a few trivial items before you try to sell expensive items. So yesterday I started my first auction, and today my second, and I intend to do a few more before the Mosaics next week. I'm offering a few mags that are in good shape. I'm hoping that I get a couple of bids so that I can see how eBay's behind-the-scenes programs work regarding actually making a sale, but if I don't that's OK. There are still a couple of things I would like to do, but can't find how to do them. If you have a moment, please look at my auctions and make any constructive criticisms that you wish. Now's the time to learn, before I put the Mosaics up for bid. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ALFRED-HITCHCOCK-ELLERY-QUEEN-FACTORY-SEALED-MINT-/130384812432?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Magazines&hash=item1e5b8a5990 http://cgi.ebay.com/CIGAR-AFICIONADO-June-2003-EX-/130385071586?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Magazines&hash=item1e5b8e4de2
