  1. CJ, I'm not familiar with the DVD, so I don't know the answer.
  2. I have all of her albums except the Best of compilation you picked up. I've always loved her. And she has recorded so rarely over 25 years that one hasn't gotten sick of her.
  3. Saskatchewan Roughriders 33....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 23 http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Gam...0480861-cp.html http://scoreboards.canoe.ca/merge/tsnform..../final/W774.htm What started out as a terrible game finished with an exciting fourth quarter. The Ticats were pathetic in the first quarter - one yard total offense and no first downs. To start the second, Glenn replaced Porter but didn't do much. At the half, Sask led 23-0. But as they say, the Ticats must have made adjustments at halftime. They scored the first 23 points of the second half to tie the game in the fourth. But the Riders regrouped with ten minutes to go and scored the last ten points of the game.
  4. Clave, you did me a real favor by putting me on to the MobileRead forum site. I go to it every day. ***** Amazon has given (again, without warning or permission) the personal information of their Kindle customers to publishers such as the Wall Street Journal. http://www.amazon.com/tag/kindle/forum/ref...Type=tagsDetail ***** Today's Guardian says that eBooks have reached their tipping point. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/aug/1...m-ebooks-kindle ***** Here's a video of an interesting eBook reader called the jetBook which uses an LCD screen rather than eInk. Pretty impressive.
  5. Clave, I listened to the disc again last night, and I was able to comfortably sit through it with ease. I guess it just takes getting used to. I guess that I am so used to laid back sambas from Brazil that I wasn't completely ready for something different.
  6. Montreal Alouettes 39....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 12 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.../AJN4248279.htm http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Gam...0474991-cp.html The Als were a little slow getting out of the gate, but once they got started they had no problem. Calvillo threw three consecutive passes for TDs in the first half. That has to be some kind of a record. Alexis Serna has turned his career around. He stunk for most of last year, but (I was surprised to learn tonight) hit 10 of his last 11 FG attempts. This year he is (I think) 14 of 17, including 4 of 5 tonight. I didn't bother listening to the second half.
  7. British Columbia Lions 36....Toronto Argonauts 28 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=s...aspx?id=4248104 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1253180/ Great game between two bad teams. The Argos had a 22-7 third quarter lead and let the game slip away at the very end. Justin Medlock tied the Argos team record with 7 FGs. The league record is 8. Cody Pickett performed much better than I expected. His 0-line gave him time, which may say something about the Lions' defense. Buck Pierce left the game early after banging his head on the turf. Shades of Dave Dickinson.
  8. TTK, you slay me! I've been listening to the Woodstock channel on Sirius today - all music recorded at the festival. Everything I've heard has been quite mediocre.
  9. Happy Birthday 2009 Soul Stream!
  10. Edmonton Eskimos 38....Calgary Stampeders 35 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.../AJN4247915.htm http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1251444/ What a game! Both teams scored a TD in the final minute! Both offenses moved the ball well throughout the game. It seemed like the game was even more high scoring than it was. Henry Burris set the Stampeders team record for career yardage thrown, passing Doug Flutie.
  11. I've never wished that I was at Woodstock, but I've always wished that I was at the Monterey Pop Festival in '67.
  12. I was looking at the standings today, and I was struck by how close the won-lost records are. one team 5-1 (Montreal) one team 4-2 (Hamilton) three teams 3-3 (Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatchewan) three teams 2-4 (Toronto, Winnipeg, BC)
  13. Gregg Xenakes Week 7 preview http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.../AJN4247606.htm ***** Cody Pickett will start for the Argos this week in place of Kerry Joseph. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Tor...436671-sun.html ***** David Naylor Week 7 preview http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1250091/
  14. Happy Birthday 2009 kinuta! Hope you got to see an old black and white Peter Sellers movie for your birthday!
  15. I've listened to Brewster's Rooster I think five times, and I like it more with each listen.
  16. Thanks for bumping this, Aggie. I need to pull this out and listen to it again.
  17. Thanks for that link, Rooster!
  18. Next week her column will be "Why I don't like the Canadian league either."
  19. I don't think adults today are as interested in music as they used to be.
  20. I have received a promo copy of an album you might be interested in. Bay Area pianist Mark Levine has a group called The Latin Tinge. They have recorded an album of Moacir Santos music called Off & On: The Music of Moacir Santos. It will be released Sept. 15. Most of the songs have very irregular rhythms. I like each track very much, but listening to these irregular rhythms for an hour is fatiguing. I plan to burn two copies of a half hour each, so that I can enjoy the music without getting burned out before it's over.
  21. Calgary Stampeders 31....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1246095/ The Bombers offense was worthless in the first half. At the half the score was 23-3, and the Bombers got their FG before they got a first down. But it was a different game in the second half. The Bombers had the ball in the last minute, hoping to get a TD and a 2-point convert, but Michael Bishop threw an interception.
  22. Hamilton Tiger-Cats 28....Edmonton Eskimos 21 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1246052/ Very solid game between two average teams. It rained in Hamilton throughout. The Ticats scored the winning TD with 46 seconds left.
  23. Congratulations impossible! A beautiful girl! Oh, will you be sending each of us a cigar?
  24. Montreal Alouettes 25....Toronto Argonauts 0 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1245573/ The Toronto defense did its best to keep the team in the game, but the Argos offense stunk for the second straight week. Kerry Joseph was lifted after three in favor of Cody Pickett. This was the first time the Als have shut somebody out since 1976 when Marv Levy was the coach. This was the first time the Argos were shut out since 1992, when Doug Flutie and the Stamps did the deed. ***** British Columbia Lions 35....Saskatchewan Roughriders 20 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1245628/ The Riders led throughout the first half, until late in the second quarter when BC took the lead for good with a TD scored on a dribble!
