Thanks for catching that, Bol! I've made the appropriate correction. My box says "MR6" on it, so I suppose that the set was a 6-LP set whose box I was sent by mistake. Hey! Maybe that makes it even more of a collector's item!

Over time, I have become used to the rhythms, and they don't bother me anymore. I like it! I see that you can now listen to this for free at lala.com. http://www.lala.com/#album/1657606138386464609

Perhaps with the "Bad News from Mosaic" thread reaching 24 pages, today would be a good day to bump this thread, and remind everyone of what is available.

The Bombers were unable to find any takers for Barrin Simpson, so they have put him on the 9 game injured list, which puts him out of action through the end of the regular season. They were obligated to pay his salary anyway, even if they released him. This allows them to retain his rights. And since he is on the injured list, his salary will not count against the cap. Makes you wonder how injured he is, doesn't it? http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Win...0882076-cp.html

Montreal Alouettes 28....British Columbia Lions 24 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=s...aspx?id=4253789 Average game with exciting fourth quarter. The Lions had the lead late in the game, but couldn't hang on. ***** Saskatchewan Roughriders 55....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 10 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=s...aspx?id=4253856 Good first quarter, tied at 7 at its end. But after that it was all Riders. I think I heard the announcer say that the Rider record for points scored is 58.

Jeff Garcia is back with the Eagles! I suppose it's too much to hope that he can be even half as magical again. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1287474/ -
Happy Birthday Vibes, wherever you are!

I lost all interest in tennis during the days of Nastase and McEnroe. I haven't seen today's incident, but in general I'm glad they put the hammer down on poor sportsmanship. It's nearly forty years too late IMO.

The league has admitted that the call that took away the Als' TD against the Lions was a bad call, and it has proposed three rule changes for the refs to ensure that it won't happen again. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1284823/ ***** Toronto Argonauts 25....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 22 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/405-...article1285220/ Defensive struggle that went into overtime. The score was tied at 19 at the end of regulation. This was the Argos' first win at home since August 1 of last year - 405 days! Quinton Porter went in and out a few times, but Kevin Glenn played most of the game. Arland Bruce scored a TD. Everybody was wondering what he would do for a TD celebration, but he didn't do anything. It was Cody Pickett's first win as a starter in the CFL or NFL. Nick Setta had a convert blocked. How often does that happen? ***** Calgary Stampeders 35....Edmonton Eskimos 34 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1285295/ Terrific game! The Eskimos were slightly better all game long, but Jermaine Copeland caught the winning TD with 22 seconds left. PS - Copeland is a winner. He won the national championship with Tennessee. He won the XFL championship with Los Angeles. And he has won the Grey Cup with both Montreal and Calgary.

Happy Birthday tpt1!

It looks like Barrin Simpson is through with the Bombers. He has had enough of Mike Kelly and his staff. They have given him permission to shop himself around, and he won't be on the roster this week. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1283079/ ***** Even though they are tied for first place in the West, the Eskimos' performance was so dismal Monday that they have fired their offensive coordinator Rick Worman. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Edm...818476-sun.html ***** In a big surprise to me, the Eskimos have released Kitwana Jones. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Edm...804796-sun.html (edit:) But he wasn't out of work long! The Riders have picked him up. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Sas...818486-sun.html ***** The Bombers put Stephan LeFors on the nine game injured list, which means that he is through for the season. He has a problem with his right (non-throwing) shoulder. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Win...824386-sun.html ***** Gregg Xenakes Week 11 preview http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.../AJN4252930.htm ***** Globe (David Naylor?) Thoughts on the eBook reader

Here is a list of lending libraries. That's right, libraries which lend eBooks either for free or for a small fee! http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/EBook_Lending_Libraries -
It was until I found this group in '03 that I learned that fans wait till the last minute to buy a Mosaic. Prior to that, in my solitude, I would buy a set when it first came out (or I first heard of it) or never, and figured that's what most people did.

I'm here mostly to learn about jazz, and that includes where the bargains can be found on the internet! The comraderie is great, but I suppose there are a lot of boards with that. I'm not aware of a board that is more informative about jazz. And I also enjoy reading the comments of those good looking guys on the Canadian league thread!

I've listened to this one quite a number of times over the past two weeks, and I'm really enjoying it - much more than when I first got it.

The two Labor Day "classics" were the two most boring games of the year! Hamilton Tiger-Cats 34....Toronto Argonauts 15 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=s...aspx?id=4252514 The Ticats dominated throughout, but shot themselves in the foot near the endzone so often that the Argos were at least in theory still in the game till the end of the third quarter. Kevin Glenn started again for the Ticats, and had another good game. ***** Calgary Stampeders 32....Edmonton Eskimos 8 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=s...aspx?id=4252547 The Eskimos were never in it. Henry Burris set the Stamps' team record for passes thrown (career), and passed Tom Burgess for 11th place on the league's career passing yardage list.

I smoke cigars. I was in the business for a while. Let me make a couple of recommendations. It's all a matter of taste, not science. Disregard people who think that their opinion is dogma. Disregard people who think that every Cuban cigar is better than every non-Cuban cigar. That's like saying that every French wine is better than every wine from somewhere else. Since the cigar boom of ten years ago, many cigar smokers are the kind of people who judge something by its price tag. Disregard them. Many old Cuban brand names are used in the US with non-Cuban cigars, so don't be confused. I can't think of any such US cigars that are of the highest quality (to my taste). One of my favorites is made in Miami - La Tradicion Cubana, by a guy named Louis Sanchez. If you are ever on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, look him up. He used to have a website to place orders. Probably still does, I haven't checked in a long time. Another favorite of mine down the block from Lou's was La Luna Cigars by a guy named Gael de Courtivran. I'm not sure that he is still in business. A third Miami manufacturer that is still going strong is El Titan de Bronze. I liked some of theirs, and didn't care much for others. Finally, there is a Honduran brand called Puros Indios which has its US headquarters in Miami. I visited their factory in Honduras in 2000. I loved them, but again, it's been a while since I had one, and the best cigars change over time depending on what leaf is available. In regard to Cuban cigars, my favorite is the Bolivar. The most popular (and I think the most expensive) is the Montecristo No. 2, but I never cared for it. By the way, everywhere in the world, the primary component of the price of a cigar is the tax.

Here's an article about the controversy. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/foot...article1278247/ Dave Naylor misstates the score. The Lions did not score the winning TD after the incident. They were already leading with what turned out to be the final score.

If it's' not too late to weigh in... First I opened up Disc 1. It was good, but I had much of it already, so it wasn't fresh like the thrill of a new album. Two weeks later I opened up Disc 3. It was very good, but Laurie set the bar so high with her previous three Widow's Taste releases that I didn't think that it measured up to them. That's not a criticism, just a comment that if you've already got the other three you've been spoiled! This weekend I finally got around to opening up Disc 2. Wow! I think that it alone is worth the $20 price of the set. I've read often how Art was so influenced by Coltrane in the 60s, but I hadn't heard any examples of that before. I've been playing Disc 2 all weekend, and I'm sure I'll keep playing it a lot. Laurie commented above that the purpose of this release was to introduce the phases of Art's career to those who are not familiar with him. I think she's done a great job of that.

Just the other day I heard a commentator on Sirius say that he expected Russell to do so poorly that he expected Jeff Garcia to be the starter in October. The guy is 39, so maybe no one will pick him up, but I don't think he's done if anyone wants to use him. That run he had with the Eagles a few years ago was one for the books! -
Saskatchewan Roughriders 29....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 14 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=s...aspx?id=4252329 The Riders dominated throughout. At one point in the third the Bombers closed to within four, but that didn't last long.

You missed one. One of the fabulous things about the ipod (I never can recall where the capital goes!) is the shuffle facility; not sure if this would have much application for reading books except, perhaps, it might make sense of Finnegans Wake. Bev, it looks like you need to practice your reading! -

Thanks for your input medjuck! That's just the sort of thing I was asking for when I started the thread.
