  1. God luck, Johnny E & CONGRATS!!!
  2. Don't you mean in the front rows... I think he was looking for strumpets in the front row.
  3. Les Paul still has a regular gig on Mondays.
  4. Is this thread the followup to Matrix Farts? http://www.wimp.com/matrixfarts/
  5. My son(12) & I loved it-good laugh! Thanks for the link.
  6. I never had a chance to buy anything from Ken- his sales usually started while I was at work and ended way before lunch! But I did see what he sold and at what prices, and he was quite reasonable. I loved the thread that Brad posted a link to, it brought out Ken's wit, which was sharp and subtle at the same time. Sorry to see him go- he did a lot of good and was ethical.
  7. Sad to hear of Ken's passing- I never communicated directly with him(His sales went fast!), but I read a number of his posts and he seemed to be a decent fellow with class and taste- just what we need so much more of these days. My condolences to Elizabeth and any other family.
  8. I've been telling my wife that 'The Wire' is a great show for over a year now, and she finally relented and watched a few episodes with me. Now she's hooked and lamenting the end of the season. I do hope it gets picked up for another season-that issue hasn't been settled yet.
  9. late, but HB Moose!!!!!
  10. I'm afraid those figures are way below reality. The BBC reported a much higher one this morning. I know. The count keeps rising. Sadly, I think when all is said and done we will be much closer to 100,000 dead. There are so many people unaccounted for, and it seems that the vast majority of them are dead if they haven't been found yet.
  11. Gigi Gryce Frank Foster
  12. Depends on how much you weigh, I guess... Hmmmm . . . . "small tear along the spine" adds at least $36 . . . . a TOTALLY CRUSHED spine must be worth hundreds!! Say, if you have that set and you own a dog, let him rip away, and ... $100 over retail price!!! We may have a money-making scheme here.
  13. Rufus Reid Slam Stewart Albert Ammons
  14. The stuff that Mcgwire took was not technically a steroid, but became one when metabolized. Slap an asterisk on him, too-he's a juicer.
  15. I love 'Question & Answer', "Song X', the live trio 2-disc. Some of his stuff just leaves me cold, though. I went to see him live about 20 years ago, and I walked out- it was cheesy-every-tune-sounds-the-same boring. Now, if he's playing in a trio, I'd want to go.
  16. The shirts look very nice, but $28 is pretty steep for a t-shirt. Gearink.com has very good ones for a lot less and when you buy three they ship for free.
  17. What are the Bosox going to do now with Hanley Ramirez, their highly-touted shortstop in the minors? By signing Renteria for 4 years, they almost have to deal the kid.
  18. From what I read, MLB was looking for a FREE STADIUM! What nerve on their part. "Fork over a billion or so, and we'll play in your city. Of course, any concession or parking revenue is ours to keep." Where will the Expos/Nationals play this year? Or will thye be renamed the 'Nomads' and just wander around to different ballparks around the country?
  19. Consider that steroids give you more power, and thus greater distance on a well-hit ball, but do not improve coordination. Now consider that Bonds would have hit at least 15 warning-track flyballs a year, maybe even more. If you take those 15 outs and convert them to homers, you move into a some pretty special company as far as offensive production. Toss in his body armor and plate-leaning(He's not the only one doing that), and the refusal of the umps to call the inside strike, and now the strike zone has shrunk AND he can hit the ball a greater distance. The saddest part to me about Bonds and the juice is that he would probably have had a great career without juice. He'd have over 500 homers at least. Now, he's asterisk-man.
  20. Don't know if you ever saw them live, but J. Geils band packed a serious punch. Straight-up blues/r&b with Magic Dick.
  21. Dan, Those are two guys out of how many free agents? 99% or more of free agents go to who pays the most money, with little regard for winning record, etc. So Pedro is no different from the overwhelming majority of players-BFD.That said, I think the Mets made a mistake in signing him- it may take 2-3 years before they have a decent team, and by that time Pedro will be 36+ with a dead arm.Methinks Minaya made a move to make a move, get some of that NY Post/NY Daily News back page action, make a splash, etc. Signing Wells is a good move as long as he's healthy- he has a rubber arm and welcomes pitching in big games. He helps the bullpen a lot by pitching very deep into games. The Yankees need a starting pitcher who can do that frequently, as I thought Gordon's arm was ready to fall off near the end of the season from overuse and he got no rest in the playoffs.. I'm on the fence about Pavano- he hasn't been a top pitcher for long, and to invest 4 years in someone who may have had his 'career year' already is iffy.Hopefully he'll prove me wrong. If I hear any owner complain about finances after the D-Backs signed Troy Glaus, they should jusy shove it! This is a guy who has hardly played in TWO YEARS, had his shoulder reconstructed, and those idiots throw $40Mil+ at him? WTF?!
  22. I'm late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Thanks much for your stellar contributions to the board!
  23. I don't know if he still does it, but the guy from Hallo Berlin also had a cart right near MOMA, and his sausages are GREAT!!!!!!
  24. Serioudly weird and cool-my son likes it too(He's 12)
  25. I agree that a Sabrett 'dirty water dog' is very good, but two pages, replies from present & ex-New Yorkers and nary a mention of Nathan's?!!!! I assumed that somebody had made their way to Coney Island if they ever lived in NYC-EGADS! Go to Coney Island on a summer day and get a dog at Nathan's and experience hot dog heaven(Their fries are also fantastic). So many dogs have been cooked on the grill there that each dog gets a little extra special flavoring. Combined with the sea air, you have a taste sensation worthy of the gods! It is the Olympus of dogdom, the apex of tube steaks, the pinnacle of frank culture! They are also available in supermarkets, and are very good there, but they do not compare to Nathan's at Coney Island.
