  1. Nice going- cool write up!
  2. I got a little over a foot of snow in Brooklyn. On Saturday there was a lull in the snow around 6P.M. and my son and I shoveled and it looked pretty clear. On Sunday morning it looked as if we hadn't done anything at all. Saturday night I was up 'till about 12:45, and while sleeping peacefully around 6A.M. my wife woke me up and said the boiler was acting strange. I go down to look at it, open the boiler room door, and a cloud of steam enveloped me! I reached around, blind as a bat(I wear glasses) and shut off the boiler. So I check everything I know to check, and no go to getting it going again. So I call my oil company(I have a service contract with them for boiler repairs), and they tell me a guy will be there by 11:00A.M. True to their word, the guy actually shows up on time, checks the boiler, restarts it, hangs around for about 20 minutes, the house starts to warm up again, sez 'You should be OK now" and leaves. Fifteen minutes after he leaves it happens again, huge cloud of steam, must shut the boiler again. This time, my wife, a far superior negotiator than I am, calls the oil company, and they say he'll be back around 5:00 P.M.. Around 4:30, here comes the same guy, looking a bit perturbed, looks at the bolier again and deduces that it's some valve that was malfunctioning. So he goes out to his truck, gets a new valve, replaces it and BINGO! everything's good again and I have heat and hot water. In between repair visits I spent about two hours shoveling again. WHAT A DAY!!! I'm ready for some melting now.
  3. I've heard some of the stuff on there, and if the rest is up to that standard, then this set is a SMOKER! The Marcia Ball cut is excellent, the Dr John cuts are also very good, the Meters are great, Rebirth Brass Band are very hot, some 'Fess, a bit of zydeco, looks great to me. How much is it selling for?
  4. Johnny E, I hope all is well with melissa and your upcomong little guy. A word of advice when changing a boy's diaper-WATCH OUT! Sometimes when you go to change a boy's diaper, you open the old diaper, then 'up periscope' and here comes a stream1 I know that from experience and I am glad I wear glasses! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND YOURS
  5. Johnny E, Can you post a list? I ask because I'm one of those people who doesn't make lists of discs, but if I see something I'll grab it. Thanks much.
  6. She was a smokin' actress!

  8. And I thought they were over about 30 years ago- the horror!
  9. The saddest thing about Owens is that he is a great wideout, but people will remember him more for his foolish antics than his ability.
  10. I've gotten to the point of such disgust with the celebrations(Why are you doing a dance when making a tackle while your team is down 21 with three minutes left?!) that I turn away from the tube or switch channels right after a TD. I loved Barry Sanders- he would rip off an 80 yard run, fake 8 guys out of their shoes, then calmly toss the ball to the official. So what would you appreciate? Not some dance, but the electrifying run for the touchdown. Whoever said 'Act like you've been there before' had it right. In basketball, sometimes a guy is so caught up in celebrating his monster dunk(which is worth two points, same as a layup) that he doesn't get back on defenseand costs his team a basket- dunk negated! Or how about these baseball players who stand there and admire what they hit(Barry Bonds & others), then realize that it didn't clear the wall and get a very long single when they might have had a triple if they had hustled? I may be an old bag and somewhat old-fashioned, but I think trash talking is degrading both for the target and the talker. Whatever happened to letting your skill speak for itself? Vent finished, return to normal mode.
  11. Best wishes to you, MM- teach them youngins about Jazz!!!
  12. God luck, Johnny E & CONGRATS!!!
  13. Don't you mean in the front rows... I think he was looking for strumpets in the front row.

  15. Is this thread the followup to Matrix Farts? http://www.wimp.com/matrixfarts/
  16. My son(12) & I loved it-good laugh! Thanks for the link.
  17. I never had a chance to buy anything from Ken- his sales usually started while I was at work and ended way before lunch! But I did see what he sold and at what prices, and he was quite reasonable. I loved the thread that Brad posted a link to, it brought out Ken's wit, which was sharp and subtle at the same time. Sorry to see him go- he did a lot of good and was ethical.
  18. Sad to hear of Ken's passing- I never communicated directly with him(His sales went fast!), but I read a number of his posts and he seemed to be a decent fellow with class and taste- just what we need so much more of these days. My condolences to Elizabeth and any other family.
  19. I've been telling my wife that 'The Wire' is a great show for over a year now, and she finally relented and watched a few episodes with me. Now she's hooked and lamenting the end of the season. I do hope it gets picked up for another season-that issue hasn't been settled yet.
  20. late, but HB Moose!!!!!
  21. Gigi Gryce Frank Foster
  22. Depends on how much you weigh, I guess... Hmmmm . . . . "small tear along the spine" adds at least $36 . . . . a TOTALLY CRUSHED spine must be worth hundreds!! Say, if you have that set and you own a dog, let him rip away, and ... $100 over retail price!!! We may have a money-making scheme here.
  23. Rufus Reid Slam Stewart Albert Ammons
  24. The stuff that Mcgwire took was not technically a steroid, but became one when metabolized. Slap an asterisk on him, too-he's a juicer.
