Organissimo does Tel Aviv, Israel
Herb replied to White Lightning's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Congratulations, guys! Let's see, shipping costs for sending a B-3 and Leslie to Israel and back....... -
Who you callin' an adult? I'm a musician!
-
Happy New Year, everyone! I spent the afternoon and evening watching the Marx Brothers marathon on TCM......
-
If it's a razr, it probably has all 4 band capability so there won't be any problem using it. Now recharging it is another issue......... (220v over there)

That is an improvement, Jim. Mine are early sixties models, as a matter of fact every one I ever had was early sixties...........

Happy Birthday, McCoy! I took my daughter to see one of his concerts, and got to take her backstage to meet him. He was very nice and polite, and answered every question that was asked. It made for a very memorable event for her.

do you prefer your models skinny or well fed?
Herb replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I like mine well padded where they should be, but never OVER-padded anywhere....... -
This is a computer animation going around the email circuit as a Iowa University invention made from all John Deere tractor parts. It is a fun piece, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu56OmVr3gg This is where it actually came from: http://www.animusic.com

I was a big ELP fan in the '70's, too. That is definitely close enough for a copyright infringement case if not done by permission! Busted! You're right, at least he listened to someone great......

RIP It seems that we have lost so many greats during our lives, and I did a little reflecting on it and posted this at another forum that I moderate. It is sad that we lose these great artists, but there is one positive aspect to it. If we are alive when they pass on; then we have been lucky enough to actually be around and experience their great talent while their light was still shining. Being born in 1950; I have seen and heard an absolutely mind boggling amount of talent in my life. I consider myself well blessed.

what are you doin the day after thanksgiving?
Herb replied to slide_advantage_redoux's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I'll be working, too; but it will probably be a very short day because at least half of my customers to see that day will be closed. Best wishes and prayers for Lon and Aric. -
Oops! 'Scuse my typo, they are 17", 1/4"shallower. Sorry 'bout that..... The neck is wider, it's 1 3/4" at the nut. I always thought L-5's felt really skinny. *makes note to proofread from now on.....*

You mean the fancy L5? Gez.... The LeGrand is quite different from an L-5. The L-5 is a 17" body with its own neck and peghead design, usually with pickups cut into the body (the CES and Montgomery Models). The LeGrand is an updated Johnny Smith, 16" body, 1/4" shallower, a Super 400 neck and peghead design (front and back), fully acoustic with no holes cut in the body other than the f-holes, and a floating pickup mounted on the pickguard. Both are way too expensive! I really do like those D'Angelicos, though.

Great score! There is a dealer in Kansas City that carries them, and I've played some. Very tempting, if I didn't already have the LeGrand!

Happy Birthday!

I was a big Gino Vanelli fan back in the mid and late '70's when he first emerged. The music of Gino and his brother Joe was very jazz based rock and fusion, and Gino's voice was great, but the lyrics were always weak. I don't listen to lyrics much anyway. After about the sixth album he got very "pop" and "punk" oriented and I quit listening to him. What were you listening to, and when was it recorded?

Ask the guy if he has the kit to adapt an M3 to a Leslie, it will contain the control box and adaptor wiring, Leslie cable, and Chorale/Tremolo switch. If he doesn't have it, you may have to find an organ repair shop that works on Hammonds and Leslies. Since Hammond (the original company) went out of business, I can't think of anywhere else to get them.

It's depressing for me because I like baseball, and because it means winter is almost here; and I can't stand cold weather! The only saving grace for me in winter is college basketball.....

It has been my experience that there really is no BAD BBQ place (at least not in Kansas City!). Some are better than others, but I've never eaten in a bad one. I brought up Jack Stack's Freighthouse because it is quite good and it is the closest place to the Folly. Wherever you go, you can't lose. Then go to the Phoenix........
-
I like Fiorello's Jack Stack BBQ at the freighthouse, a bit closer to the Folly. The Folly is at 12th and Broadway, just go south on Broadway to 21st, left two blocks to Wyandotte, and right one block to where it dead ends in the parking lot. www.jackstackbbq.com Depending on when your gig is over, you can go the north on Broadway to 8th, then east two blocks to Central and see who's playing at the Phoenix, it's open until 1 AM, and usually a jazz act. Invite me to your show, I'll give you a ride!
