  1. Damn. Reds sending the Phillies back to Earth. Halladay's no-no ain't gonna mean shit if the Reds come back and win the series.
  2. Yes. Of the three blown calls yesterday (the other two resulting in managers getting tossed in the two ALDS games), that was the only one that really had an impact on the possible outcome of the game. Posey was out. He pretty much admitted it after the game. Without that run, it's 0-0 after 9. From ESPN.... In Thursday's National League Division Series opener between San Francisco and Atlanta, Giants catcher Buster Posey was credited with a stolen base when replays showed he appeared to be tagged out. Posey later scored the lone run in the Giants' 1-0 win over the Braves. "I guess it's a good thing we don't have instant replay right now," Posey told reporters after the game.
  3. What about talking to a passenger? That is not just as distracting? No. It's much easier to hold a conversation w/ someone who is in the same room as you than having a conversation w/ someone over a phone. Have you ever been on a conference call?? While they are often a necessary part of doing business they will never take the place of talking to someone face to face. Additionally, the other person in the car that you are talking to can act as a extra set of eyes/ears - something someone on a cell phone cannot do. I would really love to see a ban on texting while driving. That's way more dangerous than talking on a cell.
  4. Yeah, a Halladay/Lincecum pairing in the NLCS would be awesome. First we have to get by the Reds which will not be easy.
  5. Thanks Q. Just watched the replay of the Michael Young check swing from this afternoon. The Rays got robbed. He definitely went. The 1st base ump blew that call.
  6. Yeah, the Rangers have a pretty good bullpen. Why did Maddon start Shields in game #2, he of a 5.18 ERA??
  7. Qualls really picked a bad time not to show up. Gives up a 3 run homer, allows another run, and leaves w/ two runners on.
  8. I was wondering the same thing.
  9. ROY HALLADAY NO HITTER!!!!!!!!!!       : 10 more wins to the parade!!
  10. Parade magic number: Eleven
  11. Just saw this tweeted... The Phillies finish w/ MLB's best regular season record. First time they have ever done that. That's going all the way back to 1883.
  12. Marco Panella - Eastern Landscapes (Tequila Sunrise Records)
  13. Yanks/Sox rivalry leads to attempted murder?
  14. So it's the Phillies vs. the Reds and the Giants vs. the Braves.
  15. Earlier this season, Placido Polanco of the Phillies got plunked on his left elbow during a game vs. the Braves. At the time he was the Phillies' leading hitter w/ a .320 average. Today Carlos Ruiz, who is the current Phils' leading hitter w/ a .302 avg., got plunked on the left elbow. The pitcher in both incidents - Tim Hudson. Just sayin'.
  16. Here's a mélange of clips...
  17. Goodie, look when I posted this: I've been with the Giants the whole year. and I'm not stopping now... Goodie! Don't let him fool you! Notice the date of that prediction.
  18. Check it out. It looks amazing!! http://www.arhoolie.com/dvds-1/down-home-music-a-journey-through-the-heartland-1963.html
  19. Looks like Zito is on the verge of a meltdown in the top of the 1st. He's already issued back to back walks w/ the bags full. 2-0 San Diego. Update: Zito avoids further damage by striking out Headley. Still he threw 33 pitches in the first.
  20. Congrats! If we skip "playoffs" (playoffs?) for the worst, the Suckitude Series is the Pirates vs. Mariners. They should do this, charge some goofy price like $3 and sell beer for 50 cents. I'd be a blast. Fuck, I'd go. That's like in Pee-Wee Football when they take the two teams withe the worst records and have them play in the Turkey Bowl the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
  21. Happy Birthday Rod!
  22. The Braves magic number is 2. So if they win tonight and tomorrow it doesn't matter what the Padres do. What is interesting is that if the Padres sweep the Giants and the Braves split w/ the Phillies then the Braves, Giants, and Pads will finish w/ identical records. Not sure how that tie breaker would work out. I know the Giants & Padres would have a one game playoff for the NL West crown but what happens to the WC? Do the Braves automatically advance or do they have to play the loser of the SF/SD match up??? And if Cincinnati wins it's final 2 games then all 4 teams could wind up the same record which could make the playoff seeding complicated. Oh and Braves fans..... Sunday the Phillies are going to throw Hamels AND Oswalt at ya.
  23. Phillies announce their playoff rotation. No surprises here: Halladay in Game 1, Oswalt in Game 2 and Hamels in Game 3.
  24. As a Phillies fan the only team that scares me - from either league - is the Giants. I'm not liking the very distinct possibility that we will have to face them in a 5 game series. I think the Braves are catching a HUGE break if they win the WC spot. I'm pulling for the Padres to win either the West or the WC.
  25. This just went out on Twitter..... Alberto Contador tested positive for clenbuterol at the Tour de France. http://twitter.com/BicyclingMag More... http://www.bicycling.com/news/pro-cycling/contador-reveals-positive-test
