  1. What's really funny about that clip is that if you look at the scoreboard it was the top of the 1st inning, 0-0 score when he had that meltdown.
  2. Signed w/ Texas?? Do you mean before they traded him away to Seattle? I don't think it was that they were unwilling to spend the money last year. I think they thought, like 99% of the baseball world, that Lee would go to the highest bidder and that they had no chance. Funny how the combined the loss to the Giants in the NLCS and Jayson Werth leaving can change one's thinking.
  3. 3/27. Phillies have Kyle Kendrick as their #5. But really w/ that starting 4 they could run Ben Franklin's moldy corpse out there every 5th day and still make the playoffs.
  4. Philly media outlets are bringing up the story about how the Yank fans treated Mrs.Lee as the deciding factor as to why he didn't sign w/ NY. Blanton to Red Sox???? http://www.masslive.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/12/report_red_sox_to_acquire_pitc.html
  5. This Lee signing is insane. My fantasy teams were never this good. The only downside to signing him is that now the pressure will be on the Phillies to make it to the WS for the next 3 years. Anything less and their season will be deemed a failure by everyone. Which is kind of unfair in a way because it is such a crap shoot once you get to the playoffs. Oh well I guess it could be worse
  6. Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels, Lee? MLB might as well start sizing the Phillies for the rings right now. As much as I would love for this to happen... it won't.
  7. 90?? That's great. Happy Birthday.
  8. The only Dallas Cowboy I ever liked. RIP.
  9. Great quote... Mets general manager Sandy Alderson seemed to think Werth got the better end of the deal. "It makes some of our contracts look pretty good," Alderson said. "That's a long time and a lot of money. I thought they were trying to reduce the deficit in Washington."
  10. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/2010/12/nationals_sign_jayson_werth.html The Nationals have signed free agent outfielder Jayson Werth, according to a source, robbing the division rival Philadelphia Phillies of one of their best players and making stunning improvement to their immediate chances at contention. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Robbing the Phillies?? Your team just signed a 31 year old outfielder for 7 years and $126 million that struck out 147 times this year and hit .139 w/ RISP and two outs. It was the Nationals that got robbed.
  11. It's a done deal. 7-yr, $126m I wonder if it's all guaranteed. That's like $18 million per season for a guy who was dead last in the NL w/ RISP and 2 outs. If that's all guaranteed they overpaid.

  14. Someone should remind Jeter's agent that Babe Ruth didn't finish his career with the Yankees.
  15. My condolences for you and your family on your loss.

  18. Whoops! Okay try this... Chicago Cubs Owners Rail Against Gov't Spending While Asking Taxpayers For $300 Million To Renovate Wrigley Field
  19. Sorry for the delay... Well as it turns out the library doesn't have records for Philly's two independent/alternative newspapers going back to 1990. The records that are available only go back to 1995 & 2001. I checked the Philadelphia Inquirer online for the months of July and December 1990 - nothing. I also checked the Philadelphia Tribune (which is the Independent African American newspaper in Philly) and found nothing. So it looks like the newspaper archives for this time period are either not available or incomplete. As a result I can't give you a definite answer on whether the show happened or not.

  21. Roy Halladay is the unanimous NL Cy Young Award winner for 2010
  22. I keep hearing the excuse that he has no weapons but that's not exactly true. Santana Moss is a #1 or #2 on any team in the NFL and to pretend other wise is ludicrous. Outside of TO or and DeSean Jackson he's the best WR DMac has had in 12 seasons. Additionally, Cooley is more than an above average TE. And look at what Michael Vick is doing this year with the same weapons(actually Vick is missing FB Leonard Weaver, who made the Pro Bowl last season) that McNabb had last season in Philly. I love McNabb but he's just not getting it done this season.
  23. Giants outfielder hailed on Friday, charged on Monday
  24. I'll try to find something on Monday when I'm at work(academic library in Philly). There's nothing that I can find online right now. We have microfilms of the local independent newspapers. If there is any info available on that show it will be in one of them.
