  1. Man, I cringe every time I see Floyd have a good game. I can't believe the Phillies got nothing for him and had to eat Garcia's $10 million contract. Actually we got one win from Garcia so I guess it wasn't a total loss.
  2. I lost on the Lester and Billy Harper albums too.
  3. They realize it. Ebay knows exactly what it's doing. Shill bidding, especially when it's hard to detect, is most definitely to ebay's advantage. Definitely.
  4. Saw Marshall Allen & Weasel Walter last night. I got to talk w/ Danny Thompson who was selling Arkestra CDs, as usual. I asked him about the Transparency material. He couldn't go into details because,"it would take too long and you would miss the show," but the gist is that the Arkestra is not makng one dime from the Transparency sales. He did have the ArtYard releases for sale. Those are legit. Also, there is an unconfirmed rumor that the Arkestra will be performing a BIG show this September in Philly to mark the 40th anniversary of their move to the Morton Street house. Oh and the Arkestra will be performing May 25th in New York - Sullivan Hall, 214 Sullivan St., 8:00 pm.
  5. Thanks for posting that link. I just ordered something.
  6. Yeah I got stock up on some rice sleeves. Anyone got a good source for them? Edit: How about these guys? http://www.sleevetown.com/lp-sleeves-inner.shtml http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/browse.asp?subcat=11
  7. Steve Lacy - Trickles (Black Saint) From the Allmusic.com review.... "The music is less melodic than expected but does have its moments of interest." Wow, "moments of interest"??? So basically Yanow is saying it is pretty uninteresting musically but then he gives it 4 out of 5 stars. WTF? Oh and as I was pulling the vinyl out of its paper sleeve I heard a little scratching sound. Arrgh. I was able to finally extract the record w/ out causing further damage. It now has a little half inch hairline scratch on side A. The scratch is just *barely* audible but not enough to ruin the music.
  8. Monday, May 5, 2008 Ozzie's blue side comes out in pregame tirade ESPN.com news services If this was the pregame interview, what could Ozzie Guillen possibly have said after the Chicago White Sox lost again Sunday? Guillen unleashed his verbal wrath before the White Sox faced the Blue Jays in Toronto, after having been asked a humorous question about a minor leaguer's recent performance and his chance at cracking the White Sox lineup. That apparently was all it took. Guillen's profanity-laden stream of consciousness touched on Cubs fans, White Sox fans, the media, Lee Elia, and himself. "Right now everyone in Chicago is making lineups -- 'Call up this guy, call up that guy.' ... If we had 50 people allowed on the roster, we could do that. That's what ticks me off about Chicago fans and Chicago media: They forget pretty quickly. A couple of days ago we were the [bleeping] best [stuff] in town. Now we're [bleep]," Guillen said to the aforementioned Chicago media before the game. Guillen observed that Chicago still loved the Cubs, even though they have not won a World Series since 1908, but the White Sox -- winners of the 2005 World Series -- did not receive the same affectionate support. "We won it a couple years ago, and we're horse[bleep]," Guillen said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "The Cubs haven't won in [100] years, and they're the [bleeping] best. [bleep] it, we're good. [bleep] everybody. We're horse[bleep], and we're going to be horse[bleep] the rest of our lives, no matter how many World Series we win. "We are the [bleep] of Chicago. We're the Chicago [bleep]. We have the worst owner [Jerry Reinsdorf]. The guy's got seven [bleeping] rings, and he's the [bleeping] horse[bleep] owner." Guillen brought up Elia, the former Cubs manager who blew his gasket over what he considered to be ungrateful, unforgiving and unsupportive Cubs fans in an infamous tirade that recently marked its 25th anniversary. "How about the Cubs celebrating that Lee Elia bull[bleep]? How many times do I curse people out? I will make a lot of money with my [stuff]. I have to keep going because in the future Ozzie will need money, and I can say, 'Here, give me money, here's the 10-year anniversary of my time I called [Jay] Mariotti stuff and the time I went on the radio and cursed out Mike North,' " Guillen said. The North incident Guillen referred to is from mid-May 2007, when Guillen called in to North's Chicago radio show and the two got into a spat (with Guillen providing most of the profanity). And in June 2006, Guillen lashed out at Mariotti -- a columnist with the Chicago Sun-Times and frequent contributor to ESPN's "Around the Horn" -- and referred to Mariotti using a homophobic slur. The White Sox had been in first place in their division from April 15 until Saturday night, but are on a five-game losing streak and now 1½ games behind the Minnesota Twins. "People are panicking," Guillen said. "Did we play a real bad week? Yes, we did, we stunk. But it wasn't too long ago that we were 'the biggest surprise in baseball, wow, look at the White Sox.' "
  9. Super. Thanks again.
  10. A couple of questions for Chuck. 1. How many copies would you print up of an album run? Was there a standard number or did it vary from album to album, run to run? 2. Is there a way differentiate between old/new editions? I picked up a copy of "Congliptious" over the weekend in near mint condition for $15. I have a hard time believing it's an older pressing. It has blue/white labels. Thanks.
  11. Clemens apologizes for 'mistakes in personal life' By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer1 hour, 5 minutes ago Roger Clemens apologized Monday for unspecified mistakes in his personal life but denied having an affair with a 15-year-old. The Daily News reported last week Clemens had a decade-long relationship with country star Mindy McCready that began when she was 15 and an aspiring singer. The newspaper also linked the star pitcher to former Manhattan bartender Angela Moyer and Paulette Dean Daly, a former wife of champion golfer John Daly. "Even though these articles contain many false accusations and mistakes, I need to say that I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry," Clemens said in a statement issued by spokesman Patrick Dorton. "I have apologized to my family and apologize to my fans. Like everyone, I have flaws. I have sometimes made choices which have not been right." The apology was first reported by the Houston Chronicle. Brian McNamee, Clemens' former trainer, accused the pitcher in December's Mitchell Report of using performance-enhancing drugs in 1998, 2000 and 2001, before players and owners agreed to ban them from baseball. Clemens, a seven-time Cy Young Award winner and 354-game winner, has repeatedly denied using steroids and human growth hormone and filed a defamation suit against Brian McNamee. "I believe my personal life has nothing to do with the accusations of steroid and HGH use," Clemens said. "I have already made clear that I did not use them. Now, I have been accused of having an improper relationship with a 15-year old girl. Nothing could be further from the truth. This relationship has been twisted and distorted far beyond reality. It is just one of many, many accusations that are utterly false. "I realize that many people want me to simply confess and apologize for the conduct that I have been accused of, but I cannot confess to, nor apologize for, things I did not do. I have apologized to my family for my mistakes, and having offered this apology to the public, I would ask that you let me and my family deal with these matters in private." Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, said Friday he will talk with his client about whether to proceed with the defamation suit following a wave of unpleasant publicity. "He's getting pummeled," attorney Rusty Hardin said then. "I've never seen somebody get beat up like this. In some ways, I think we're on uncharted ground." The decision on whether to drop the suit rests with Clemens. "That's always a decision the client has to make," Hardin said. "That's not the lawyer's decision."
