In case anyone's interested, here's some of the books that I'm considering using: The Freedom Principle by John Litweiler (which also inlcudes a quote from a Downbeat review by Larry Kart on the back cover ) West Coast Jazz by Ted Giola Notes and Tones by Arthur Taylor I found another one by Martin Smith called "John Coltrane: jazz, racism and resistance). Any thoughts on this one?

I'm also very satisfied with the 20 bit remasters that came out 10 years ago or so. So I'm not sure if it make sense to upgrade those. The only 20bit that I didn't care for the sound on was Hub's Artistry of Freddie Hubbard; Art Davis's bass is too boomy in the low notes and barely audible in the high notes. Was the earlier MCA issue any better? I would actually consider buying the older version, since it doesn't seem that this is in any reissue plan in the future.

The only thing that might cool off the Rockies is a week long layoff. But I don't see anyone beating them the way they are playing right now. I'd like to see a Cleveland/Colorado WS and I think it will happen. However, I'm wondering if that match up would be a ratings disaster. I would really like to see the Indians win it all. When was the last time they won it, 1945??? Yes, its been a long, long time for Cleveland.

Davey Williams and John Corbett - Humdinger (14 Improvisations and a Monograph on Failed Wind Instruments) -UMS. Gave it shot since I found a used copy for only $1. Pretty strange stuff. For example, there's one track that features over seven minutes of (John Corbett?) just flipping through stations on a radio.
