  1. Books on dinosaurs, bigfoot and the bermuda triangle. Was also a big fan of the Hardy Boys too. Recall going to the library every couple of days to check out more volumes, which seem endless at the time.
  2. Don Ellis fan, but I'm not familiar with his MPS output, so I'm intrigued. I see at CDNow that it said "this collection..." which may mean selections from various albums...is that the case? Or is it something else? Any info would be greatly appreciated HG
  3. Here it is CJ Shearn (I'm not going to get in trouble posting this am I?
  4. All four Brooks albums are essential. Yup, sure are. Yeah, you'll want to get 'em all eventually. Back to the Tracks has some very good McLean, while Minor Move has some great Morgan. Coles is OK on The Waiting Game, but still a very worthy session. Any Brooks is good in this book.
  5. Cool. I'm gonna pick it up. Thanks guys! HG
  6. Yes, its legit. I only have Ayler's Copenhagen Tapes but really wish to get more. A lot of very good stuff there.
  7. I have this one on hold. The only other cd I have him on is the Mann/Most disc on Bethlehem, and I like him there. This one's on Dawn, and it looks like its culled from at least two sessions, but one of them has this dude on accordian, which has me concerned. Its not that I have a problem with them, I just don't know how its going to sound in this context. So does anyone have this one? And do they like it?
  8. Any opinions on Reeds and Deeds?
  9. Yeah, Kirk's great! Top three, which isn't too far from others, are: We Free Kings Now Don't You Cry/Rip Rig and Panic Domino Like the Jazz Corps and Mingus material a lot too. I don't think anyone addressed any opinions on Reeds and Deeds though...thoughts?
  10. I like Jacknife a lot, the opener is a classic to me--the CD has more going for it than early DeJohnette! You may be in for a pleasant surprise That's right. Tolliver and Morgan share the front line together on at least one track. Again, that first track is killer-worth it just for that track alone.

    Nimbus records

Thanks for the recs. I'm only aware of the Tapscot material by name, of which I own nothing of (have the Hats, and those are great!) I would really like to get to know more of, of what seems like a great label.
  12. The Jack Wilson is really swinging with McLean in great form. Worth it just for the photo in the booklet with what appears to be a very stoned Billy Higgins (and Cranshaw too for that matter!). Don't pass it up and grab the Brooks as well! Hats off to Cuscuna for getting all of his music released!
  13. Just learned what this all about....had to ask friends of mine for clarification.
  14. Come to think of it, a nice Bud Powell or JJ set would be nice too (not sure how may dates JJ Johnson cut for RCA actually ).
  15. My wife's been shopping since 5am ( _ ) and there are two ...well three places that she was going for deals: Wal Mart (because she needs a laptop for work) and Circuit City (WII for my older daughter) Other than that, its Home Depot
  16. Well now we are in this weird stage where we could either get rain or snow
  17. Shorty Rogers RCAs would be a good Mosaic project. Lots of love for Miles in the voting so far. I don't own any Shorty dates so I would be open to hearing any recs!
  18. Yeah, the Tokyo set should be included!
  19. Yeah, we had a Christmas compilation that had a cut by the Ventures on it, and it was pretty neat
  20. Yeah, funny enough I thought it was maybe about Chet Baker's teeth I have a couple of digis with that are broken (Tonight at Noon, all the teeth are broken and the cd just sits there and Dark Magus where half of the teeth are broken for disc two from the digipack edition) so I think this is a great solution and will place an order
