It looks like it was produced last year, but somehow I never saw this one until now. That must've been a pretty intense situation when all four engines failed. Cool that the crew managed to start them up again (and then shut one down again) and still land safely.
Eventually they got an engine started and made an emergency landing, though the engines and windscreen were pretty severely damaged.
Is this a new one? Nonetheless, I've never seen it and will check it out.
Yeah, two episodes every Tuesday. I'm trying to not look to see who won, which won't be broadcasted until November 11th.
I like Carroll too; first time I've heard his name, or as he says, " I'm the best poker player you've never heard of"
How could that be?!?!? He's the best poker player in the world! No one else can touch him!
Just ask him; he'll tell you....
I love to see Hellmuth lose!
He can dodge bullets baby!
Unity is a monster and probably considered to be in the top echelons of organ jazz period. But concerning Woody's leader dates, I like The Moontrane and Rosewood quite a bit with Stepping Stones not too far behind; I would think that those are considered top shelf Shaw.
Honorable Mention: Woody smokes on the Jody Grind.
Maybe its just me, but some parts of 'A Slice of a Top" just don't jell completely, even though I'm just happy to have it. In concept though, its still a worthy album (although I think everything was written by Mobley except for one tune).
Yeah, totally! Is he (has) recording anything as of late? Club dates? Man, I don't even know what he looks like! Pics?
Nice avatar SS. AOTB was an album that took time to grow on me (a last minute decision buy for $6!!!) and now it ranks as one my favorite BJP.
Thanks for the reviews CT and LK. Man, that's too bad, it seems that this would be a fascinating era to read about. Nonetheless, I will try to read it and at least give it a shot (love the dust jacket photo though; I'll keep it just for that).
CT: I will keep my eyes peeled for that Dixon book-now that sounds really interesting.
I was curious if anyone has read Northern Sun, Southern Moon: Europe's Reinvention of Jazz. I picked it up at Half Price for cheap the other week and have plans of digging in it soon. Thoughts?
