re: tedious reading I read a few pages of Burrow's Naked Lunch one time, talk about tedium... Maybe someone with an exceptional memory and oversight could make sense of it but to me it seemed like repetitive, rambling gibberish.

Maybe it's "stupid" to talk ill of the dead, but, it's not stupid to know that synthesizers lessened the number of gigs for horns and strings by imitating their sounds. The Moog certainly ushered in these ideas and sounds. BTW, the piano replaced much of the harpsichord market, not the orchestra.
