  1. I read in a news headline email that y'all are getting a heck of storm from the north, with 85 mph wind in some places. Some roads going into SF are blocked by debris, even interrupted ferry service going into SF. The article goes on to say that the biggest danger is people driving recklessly, not being careful.
  2. Sorry for your loss Flurin. I know how attached you can get to little critters.
  3. Really! I think I got the vapors.
  4. Roger Clemens Johnny Bench Mary Tyler Moore
  5. Western NC actually had an earthquake a month or so ago. But, quakes are almost as rare as hen's teeth. No volcanoes, yet. I'll keep an eye out. We do get occasional water damage from hurricanes. Still colder'n a witch's tit here.
  6. re: GPS Isn't it really just a gizmo to keep you dumb so that you don't learn and develop a sense of direction? I've been lost and found my way by simply correlating road signs with a map. I mean, where's y'alls pioneering spirit?
  7. Nothing like that Northern winter, e.g. crossing the street, thinking you're stepping on "solid" snow or ice, sinking up to your ankles in ice water slush. At least out West y'all have fairly dry cold, not too uncomfortable. The cold around here'll chill your bones.
  8. Huh, wonder if the robot'll be based on the cow milking machine? Whoa!
  9. Northern Florida gets cold as you-know-what. I remember going to Florida for a gig when I was a kid, thinking, "Wow, Florida! warmth and sunshine." Sheeit, we had rain and sleet way past Jacksonville. 'Course, Cocoa Beach was nice.
  10. Ayn Rand Tom Clancy John Steinbeck
  11. How's the weather? You wanna know how the weather is? It's fucking cold enough to freeze the brass nuts off a monkey's ass, that's how cold it is. It didn't get above freezing yesterday(contrary to all the weather reports), and it ain't out of the 20s yet right now. We'll probably get up in the 80s next week.
  12. I first heard this beat in 1964 or 5 in Boston. A guy named Hershel Dwellingham III from Bogoloosa, Louisiana, is credited with bringing it to Boston. I believe he called it the Fatback. Nobody in Boston had heard it until that time. Hershel used to hold court with drummers standing around him in awe , watching and learning the Fatback. He did it a hell of a lot cleaner and clearer than any samples on the recording/link, BTW, seriously. HEY I'M HERSCHEL DWELLINGHAM SR. I WAS NEVER A III, I'M THE DRUMMER IN BOSTON 1963 TO 1973.I MOVE TO NEW YORK CITY IN 1973 AFTER THE WEATHER REPORT ALBUM SWEETNIGHTERS. I BECAME A SESSION PLAYER IN NEW YORK AND PLAYED ON 75 GOLD, AND 8 PLATUM HITS, ONE BEING " CATS IN THE CRADEL " BY HARRY CHAPLIN AND A LOT OF DANCE HIT OF THE 70'S. NOW I'M BACK IN BOGALUSA, LA. I HAVE A RECORD COMPANY NAME BOGUE MAGIC CITY RECORDS. E-MAIL BOGUE_2@JUNO.COM / http:www.myspace.com/bogue920 . THANK FOR ALL THE GREAT THINGS YOU SAID ABOUT ME. HERSCHEY Fucking A!! Hey Herschel! I'm Maurice Grubb, bari player with Danny Wright's group. Man, glad you're around. I could've sworn that I saw III associated with your name somewhere. My mistake.

  19. Well, it's here, I'm "happy," hope everybody else is too.
  20. I listened to Coltrane, Jarrett and Basie more than anyone; starting to listen more to "pop" vocalists, e.g. Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix.
  21. I thought that stuff these days is loud enough to wake the dead(?). Anyhow, I've never been to a regrettable concert. I played one, a big band backing Anson Williams, that makes me hang my head in shame....talking about sucked..damn.
