  1. jmjk, It's Homestar Runner! Great Avatar. I thought about putting Strong Bad as one of mine. Remember, the Poopsmith's job is obvious. If you've never heard of Homestar Runner, check out the website. It's very funny! Homestar Runner
  2. I figured I'd wait to read the liner notes until I gave the music a chance, so I haven't read them yet. I'm on my second listen and it still hasn't grabbed me. I like it more than the first listen. I really didn't like the first track "Prologue" when I first heard it. The melody at the beginning was just a little too upbeat for me, it made me think of a breakfast cereal commercial. Just a little too precious. I'll keep listening. There are places in the album I really like. I think this may really grow on me.
  3. RDK, Your avatar creeps me out too! Nice work!
  4. Jim R, What was the type of file that you wanted to upload? Was is a jpeg file. If it was, before you try to upload it, rename the file on your computer. Ex. Photo.jpg Hopefully this will work.
  5. Jim R, The files labeled "pict" are pict files. The file extension is .pct - I don't know if this board supports them. My guess would be that it doesn't because pict files can be quite large. The files labeled "jpeg" are jpeg's which are one of the standard file types used for images on the web. The file extensions for jpegs are .jpg - you'll need to rename your file with that extension. Example: Photo1.jpg Your photo manipulation program should give you the option to save your pict files as jpegs. Just remember to use the .jpg extension. Good luck!
  6. Jim R, Have you been saving your images as .jpg or .gif? Since you're on a Mac, I'm wondering if you need to add file extension names to the end of your files. This software probably won't recognize your files unless you have an extension at the end. Example: picture1.jpg
  7. ariceffron@yahoo.com I dare you!
  8. Good point! That'll work for me. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
  9. Thanks B3-er! There's another board that I frequent. It's called the Fender Discussion Pages. It's for guitar players. They were started in a manner similar to this board. Just a bunch of Fender guitar fans. One way they have generated money is they allow members to contribute through Paypal. So if bandwidth becomes a problem, maybe that would be a solution. Fender Discussion Pages
  10. B3-er, I don't get any file attachment thingy. Maybe you have it because you're the moderator, but I don't have it.
  11. I think the reason it's not working for Dan is because the picture he's trying to link is embedded within a php page. I went over to AAJ and tried to link one of the Rick Wakeman pictures. When I checked to properties, the photo address was listed as: http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/attachment....?s=&postid=6358 This is why he's getting the dynamic page error. If you look at the link, you see there is no file extension (such as .jpg or .gif). That's why it's not working. B3-er's photo from ebay has the file extension at the end: http://pics.ebay.com/aw/pics/homepage/v2/l...ogo_171x102.gif That's an advantage AAJ has (but I like it here anyway). They'll host your photo for you. You don't need an external host. Unfortunately, the web server would fill up too quickly if we did it here. I wish I had a solution for you, Dan. Sorry!
  12. Stupid Question Alert!! For those who alphabetize their collections. Where do you put Sonny Red? I've been putting him under "K" for Kyner, but I've put him under both "S" and "R" in the past. I guess I get all anal retentive about it because if someone is looking through the "K" section they won't see any mention of his last name. It just seems out of place. Thank you for your patience with my stupid question.
  13. Now that, at that price and condition, is QUITE a find good for you. It was very difficult to play it cool when I was paying for it. I thought the seller would see me sweating and realize what he was selling was something of value.
  14. I just picture Greg as Jor-El (looking like Marlon Brando) watching his world crumble. Good thing we found this new planet before Krypton went. I hope there were escape ships that make it here. I see a few made it to AAJ.
  15. WOW! That was probably a good move. Though, where am I going to converse with my fellow Norah Jones fans and what is going to happen to Greg? Somebody must have really PISSED them off.
  16. It's not organ jazz, but... I found the Pacific Jazz album Sounds of Synanon for $1 in mint condition. I haven't bought much vinyl in a while, but I've gotten so much good music for next to nothing. Those old Pablo albums are usually pretty cheap, they are pressed on nice vinyl and sound really good. I've also found great deals on Muse lps.
  17. I agree with GOM too. I was hoping the Jacquet set was going to be like his album, The Kid and the Brute. I became a Jacquet fan after hearing it. I really love this album and it made me want the Mosaic set. When I initially got the set, I was disappointed due to my initial expectations. As I've listened to it more, I've come to appreciate it for what it is. I actually like the Jump Blues stuff now.
  18. Please keep it up! That guy needs it. P.S. - I love the avatar! The jazzmoose is on the loose!
  19. Thanks Joe! I might take the animation out. It's starting to get to me.
  20. I don't know much about David Baker other than this album. I'd like to hear more, though.
  21. Thanks Ghost! I appreciate you taking the time to fill me in Elliot Smith. I will pick up something when I can. Your description has really got my curiosity up. It sounds like something I would love. I can't afford to hang out here. It's going to be too expensive!
  22. That's a great idea about cutting notches in the capo, jmjk. I used to use an e-bow often, until a friend borrowed it. Needless to say, I haven't seen either of them in a long time. I'd like to pick up one again. Have you tried the method of using a metal slide and sliding up and down (north to south) over the pickups. It gives an effect similar to an e-bow, but for all the strings. I spent a lot of time playing 12 strings too (acoustic and electric). It is a pain when the tuning goes sounth on you. My Rickenbacker is a pain to tune up, period. I always seem to snap one of the strings tuning and I end up with an 11 string. There was a great thread on Krautrock at the BNBB. I don't know if it is still there, but there were some great suggestions. One of my favorite Krautrock bands was a band called Can. I'm mentioning them because you mentioned Japan. David Sylvian did some duet albums with a member of Can named Holger Czukay in the late '80s. If you are interested in exploring Krautrock further, I'd be happy to help you out.
  23. Congratulations on the voiceover gig, Dan! The company I work does a lot of CD-ROM learning applications. We use the voiceover guy that does all the VO for Disney's amusement parks. It's funny, now when I go to Disneyland, and I hear his announcements on the various rides, it makes me feel like I'm at work.
