  1. Wait until you get a look at the Political Forum!
  2. Jimi Hendrix really was the coolest! I have some guitar face pictures of myself that I would never show. Oof!
  3. here's one to go with the more twaaaaaiinngggggggg twoooooooiiiinggggggg hummmmmmmm-like playing preferred by some... look at the concentrated fierceness, the way he is sprouting energy, transferring his spirit to the hungry crowd! amazing... That was cold, John!
  4. Yikes! I'm surprised this thread hasn't been inundated with funny guitar face pictures...
  5. Thanks for the link, James. I don't don't know much about Polish Jazz. All I have is a few CDs by Tomasz Stanko. I'd love to learn more, though.
  6. I enjoyed your art. Since you love jazz like us, I hope you'll join in the conversations around here
  7. Once again, Cat Shatner points the way to the future.
  8. 30's here and I play guitar.
  9. They just need to be careful which recordings to tape over. As long as they're Dave Koz or Kenny G tapes, it shouldn't be a problem...
  10. Use another brand? I know when I used to record in studios, we used Ampex tape. Everyone I knew used Ampex tape (which is Quantegy now). Are there any other good brands are out there? I know a lot of people are recording digitally, but there are fans of analog recording out there.
  11. Wow! I wonder what the recording studios are going to do?
  12. I have that Tahoe Dick's Picks and I LOVE it! The quality is a little rough, but it's an enjoyable set. I agree with GDTRFB, I'd get the Shrine shows first. I think they're on Two From the Vault. I like a lot of the 1968 shows I have heard, but I actually like most 66-74 shows I have. Some interesting shows are the Mickey and the Hartbeats shows from late in '68. Basically, the GD had kicked out Weir and Pigpen and were playing without them, but with cool guests like the Airplane's Jack Casady, etc... I don't know if these shows are on archive.org, but I'd check out www.gdlive.com or bt.etree.org. You might find them there. But... I pretty much stick to the soundboards. There are a couple audience recordings I have (I think they're August 5-6, 1971) that I really enjoy. I think my absolute favorite period of the Dead was 1972. I enjoy everything from that year, but I think the fall of '72 through the end was a real climax for them.
  13. That Lemieux interview is interesting. I think I'm going to work on downloading more soundboards now before they start charging for them.
  14. Welcome to the board!
  15. I've enjoyed your posts as well, Randy. Welcome!
  16. And here's some happening shit: No shit!
  17. It's happening!
  18. I hope you have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  19. hehe BeBop, Are you in Reno? No, not in Reno. Or anywhere else for that matter. I travel. 365 nights a year in hotels, all over the world. I hit Reno from time to time. Roseville too. Rabat, Rio, Riyadh, Rotterdam, Riga, Reykjavik, Rawalpindi, Rangoon... Wow! That sounds like a very INTERESTING life!
  20. I think you'll be very happy with your order. I'm really glad Chuck suggested the Hal Singer album.
  21. hehe BeBop, Are you in Reno? We moved there this last summer, but now we've moved to Roseville. I wish I would have known, we could have hooked up. Erik, BeBop is right. There isn't much in Reno. I was told there was some jazz being played downtown somewhere off of 4th street, but I didn't get a chance to find out. Other than the aforementioned Recycled Records and Barnes and Noble, there's a Tower Records and a Borders. If I were you I'd stick with blackjack. Have fun!
  22. I hope you have a great birthday!!! We all know that January is the best month for birthdays.
  23. I hope you have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
