  1. I like the blue. Is it one of those spanish reissues? Make sure you keep an eye on this one... you never know it could end up at the Jazzcorner.
  2. Great photos!
  3. You can't just leave those things sitting around, John.
  4. Tomatbluenote may be at AAJ, but we've got Tomatobluenote here.
  5. Andrew Hill - Dance With Death (last week) The Verve Granz Jam Session box I hadn't bought a jazz cd since last spring... it sure felt good.
  6. I've listened to a number of shows, Ghost, and I'm really impressed. I took a history of jazz course in college and your show is more entertaining and educational.
  7. Enough of your merriment, AB! Seriously, what'd they ban you for--brightening their day? Thanks Ghost! Actually, in one of the threads, someone mentioned that they were looking for a certain guitar and I made the mistake of telling them that I had what they were looking for and was thinking of selling... It did me a favor... hanging out at that forum made me spend too much money. Being addicted to cds is nothing, just try guitars. Oof!
  8. I can't believe you guys forgot my favorite monkey!
  9. Nice choices, RDK!
  10. I forgot a biggie! Art Tatum - The Complete Group and Solo Masterpieces series Either the individual volumes or the box sets.
  11. Man... there's so many great OJC's. Here are a few of my favorites. Shelly Manne - At the Blackhawk (multiple volumes) Howard McGhee - Maggie's Back in Town Teddy Edwards - Teddy's Ready Gigi Gryce - The Rat Race Blues Yusef Lateef - Eastern Sounds I've recommended single albums by these artists, but there are more OJC's by these musicians that are killer. Art Pepper. He has so many great albums out as OJC's. Don't forget about Red Garland... Curtis Counce... Gene Ammons... Eric Dolphy... Joe Henderson... McCoy Tyner... There's so many great albums... I really hope they don't start deleting titles.
  12. Back in 1988 I purchased my first jazz recording. It was Africa/Brass, and things have never been the same...
  13. Actually... since I play guitar I like to check out guitar bulletin boards. I've run into a couple that are like little kingdoms, the worst being the www.fenderforum.com. They'll ban you for just about anything. I should know... I got banned. I have a lot of respect for Jim and Organissimo for being so fair with all of us.
  14. Tom - I just saw a "revised" box of this at Fry's the other day. It's in a tall book form, like the re-released Miles boxes. If you're looking for it, it might suit ya better... I also saw a new version like that of the 3 cd Monk box that Noj mentioned.
  15. I remember when we, from the BNBB, decided to land at the Harlem.Org site. Wayne wrote that he didn't "have time for riff raff. Not politics. Not sports." Memories from Harlem. I will not hesitate in closing threads, accounts, banning IP numbers. I want 90% of the people to have a good experience. I simply don't have time for riff raff. From the looks of it, if a moderator's underwear is too tight, then he/she deserves what you get.... The sounds of silence.
  16. I figured the Evans box would be the winner... I hate to admit it, but the packaging kept me away. In the non-jazz box set category, I have to nominate the recently released Beatles Capitol box. The artwork is ugly, but the box itself is worse. It is smaller than a regular box set, the cardboard is thin, and when you slide the sleeve out of the box, the contents fall out.
  17. Thanks for the suggestion EB! I think I have that one laying around somewhere...
  18. Yeah, they're pretty wacky. I've got to get back into the animated gif business. It's been a while since I've made any.
  19. It bothered me when I first saw the ad... but upon seeing Chris' post, I changed my opinion. I'm glad that it's helping the Coltrane family. Now everytime I see/hear the commercial, I can't help but hope that someone will be intrigued by the music and gain their introduction to Coltrane.
  20. You are among friends! You should see the compilation cds that I make...
  21. I've bookmarked the site and I'm listening right now.
  22. YOU SELL HERB? COOL! Welcome etherbored!
  23. I've got a bunch of Leo discs - mostly Braxton and Sun Ra - but don't think I've heard any of the "Lab" discs. What's their m.o.? I would assume a-g, but to be honest I sometimes have a difficult time telling the "good" a-g from the "bad." What exactly does "dreadful" mean in this case? I like a lot of avant jazz, but those Leo Lab discs just don't hold together for me. Even with repeated listenings, it seemed as if there was nothing for me to get into. I guess they were too avant for me.
