  1. Thanks Tjazz! To me, anything with Don Rich is worth picking up.
  2. I know I'll be getting the Hill as soon as I can. I already have the Young and Rivers Mosaics, so I don't really need their Conns (but I'm tempted by the Rivers anyway). I'm sure I'll get the Hutcherson sometime, but I'm just not in the mood now. I have all his BN cds that have been released, but I haven't listened to any of them in ages. As for the Horace Silver, I have a tocj of one of the albums in the trilogy, Total Response. I know it's wrong to say since it wasn't intended that way, but I think it's humorous stuff (especially tracks like Acid, Pot Or Pills). In truth, it was my first exposure to Andy Bey and I went on to purchase more of his work. I'll probably get this if BMG has it on the cheap.
  3. I hope you have a GREAT birthday!!!
  4. I hope you have a very HAPPY birthday, Brad!!
  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope it's a good one!
  6. It's funny... I've had the complete Dial and Savoy recordings for a long time, but I never really could get into Bird. Last year, my wife bought me the Parker JSP set. Since it was a gift, I went ahead and took the set to work with me and proceeded to listen to it frequently. Since the set was an overview, it really pulled me into Parker's music. I didn't get distracted by the alternate takes. Listening to it finally helped me to GET Bird.
  7. trane_fanatic, I've been in the same boat myself this summer (no job, marriage problems, moving to a new city for the second time in four months, etc...). I've had to fight the desire to just give up, but the truth is, even in the midst of all the crap I'm going through, there are still some good things and I just have to hold on. If you can reach out to friends or family, I'd do that. Good luck!
  8. Instant karma's gonna get you. That guy should never get out.
  9. It just goes to show: Coke is NOT it. It's funny I really love the songs from TERRAPIN STATION, and the spring '77 shows that I've heard are favorites, but I hate the production on that album. I can't even listen to it. (Insert vomit emoticon here) It's hard to believe the producer (Keith Olson) of that mess was actually a member of that great 60's group, The Music Machine.
  10. Sometimes the board has reminded me more of "The Lord of the Flies" - The Board of the Flies It's a small little island we live on, but I do think there has been (from the beginning) a sense of comradery among the board folk (remember MusicBoy). As for religion, I always figured that if you bring up what you believe, there's going to be someone who will disagree and possibly mock it. Who cares if they do? If you've got a great sense of peace from your faith, then good for you. Just be happy that you're happy. I'll tell you, I was a lot happier when I had faith, life was a LOT easer for me. it's not up to you to protect your God, etc... from mockers. He/She/It can take care of themselves. I know that nobody asked for my opinion, so I'll just shut up.
  11. Right On!!! In my book, Lou Reed hasn't done anything for me since LOADED. The exception being METAL MACHINE MUSIC, which he probably intended as a joke, but plain noise is better than his solo stuff. Back to the good ol' Grateful Dead: I'm on the fence about this new box also. The Arista albums never have done that much for me, plus I already have most of them as remastered Japanese versions that I got for bargain prices. The Grateful Dead Records albums are essential for me. I'll probably just pick them up when they come out separately. As for the bonus disc, I probably have most of it (if it's from live shows) anyway. But... the Grateful Dead Movie.... Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this on DVD for a LONG time.... It's better than Homer's forbidden donut.
  12. Ah... Kraftwerk! I have so many GREAT memories with their music as a soundtrack. Back in my crazy trippin' days, I spent MANY nights coming down to Kraftwerk. My favorite album of theirs is the MAN-MACHINE. I always loved the track "Metropolis" - I'm surprised that people don't mention this album much. My second favorite album of theirs is RADIO-ACTIVITY. I also dig the earlier stuff (which I have on vinyl), but I could never really get into AUTOBAHN.
  13. Nice job! I'd heard the name, but hadn't seen her before.
  14. This is GREAT news! I'll soon be joining the ranks of half.com sellers.
  15. Or a pre-Skelator, Maria Shriver?
  16. Is is a very young Cheryl Tiegs?
  17. I had around 3200 CDs when I last was able to look at them and estimate (about 2 years ago). Now, about 99% of them are in storage, and I have about 40 CDs to listen to (except for my mp3 player which is loaded up). It's weird, not having my collection around has helped me slow down my purchases. Actually... Not having a job has done a LOT more to slow down my purchases. Oof! :rsly:
  18. I hope you have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Matt!
  19. Cool site! Thanks for the link. I'm off to play the Pat Martino licks.
  20. THANKS!! It's GREAT to be back!
  21. Thanks maren!
  22. just sent you the PSD Thanks again! I've got to find a way to make Cat Shatner images while my wife isn't around. She's always on my case if I'm doing anything fun... I can't believe how much time I used to waste at my old job doing this stuff.
  23. Thanks John!!!!!
