  1. That's cool Deus! I guess I just see many Americans being in denial about their health. I think we're one of the more brainwashed nations in the world. If you've ever read the book "Fast Food Nation" you'd be disgusted at the marketing for this garbage that is aimed at the very young. This truly is a fast food nation, unfortunately. There are a lot of smart people that make stupid decisions. So, I guess I'm just happy to see anything that might influence someone to make a positive change in their life. :rsmile:
  2. I think this guy had a great idea. It's not like he was making a film about Russian Roulette. He knew it wasn't going to kill him. McDonalds has claimed in the past that their food is healthy (search around the internet and you'll find these quotes). I think he did a favor for those people who are in denial about this kind of food. This is a real problem in the U.S. - Obesity is out of control. For a filmmaker who is so stupid, he sure seems to be doing quite well with this film. He'll probably have a real career because of it.
  3. Take 5, Did you click on the discography link on the main page for each Mosaic set at their website. I think they give quite a bit of detail. I'm with Sal. I love Mosaic sets.
  4. I don't understand the anger towards the filmmaker. It's not like he filed a lawsuit against them or anything. He just showed what happens if you eat this kind of food as your main diet. There are many people in the U.S. who do this.
  5. I've been using the Creative Nomad Zen Xtra (40gb) for about 4 months now. It hasn't given me any problems so far. I'm very happy with it. I admit, I do keep it in it's case all the time, but I do keep it in my backpack where it does get banged around a little. I was concerned about the build quality, so I spent the extra $40 for the extended warranty. The player itself was only $250, so I think I got a great deal. So far, I have 539 albums loaded on it, and I have 9.7 gb of space left. These things were made for Mosaic sets.
  6. I'm really happy this is getting a regular release. I don't know if I'll bother to see it in the theatre, but I'll definitely rent it.
  7. Since I've broken the rules already. I have to mention Pat Martino - Consciousness (from 1974). I dig his Prestige stuff from the late sixties, but this album is my favorite by him.
  8. I know I'm stretching the time limit of this topic, but another great Weston album IMO is: Tanjah (from 1973)
  9. Here's one Verve put out on CD a while back that I dig. Randy Weston - Monterey '66
  10. I also dig some of the late sixties Freddie Hubbard albums on Atlantic.
  11. Here are a couple Pharoah Sanders albums I dig from this period (1969). Jewels of Thought
  12. I love this album from 1970 by Alice Coltrane
  13. If you want to start studying Bird, I agree with some of the others here and I also recommend the Savoy and Dial recordings. I think you really get him at his peak.
  14. I'm looking forward to seeing it... but I love this kind of stuff.
  15. Thanks for the advice, Dr. J! We're going to have him checked out. It's good to know that he's not too young to be diagnosed. Dmitry, thanks for your suggestion. I'm off to find a bulletin board. I really appreciate that we have this forum. You guys (and gals) have really been helpful. Thanks!
  16. Brad, Thanks for your post. I'm open to drugs, but I want to try everything else first. It will be interesting to see how he is around school age. You mention that it might be hereditary. I'm a little nervous myself. It might explain the CD binges, etc...
  17. That's a cool idea! You can call it "Take 6"
  18. I missed your post earlier Scott. Thanks for the advice. My wife and I are going to cool down for a while and then see some different doctors. We agree that he's too young for this kind of diagnosis. We're just going to make sure that we have everything working right before he is in school. Dave, your drummer sounds like a gas. I played in a lot of bands (before I settled down). I know all about those drummers that change tempo. I had one band in which we practiced so much, we would automatically do the time fluctuations with our drummer. He was a lot better than the drum machine that replaced him (and went crazy during one of our bigger shows ) - but that's a different story.
  19. I don't know if this is stretching the idea too much, but I'd probably go for something recorded from the 20's to the 40's before modern recording techniques. I mean if this a magic, snap your fingers kind of thing, I'd love to hear the contents of the Bix Mosaic sound exactly as it would if I was hearing it live. It be amazing to hear the Armstrong Hot 5's in realistic sound, or the Ellington Blanton-Webster band... I'd also love to hear some of those early BeBop jam sessions is perfect sound.
  20. I'm looking forward to these releases. I dig early JGB. I've download many of his solo shows already, but this should be a nice series. I know how much I've loved the Dick's Picks series of the GD. :rsmile:
  21. You have my sympathies, Erik. I really hope that my son is just an active (almost) 3 year old. I think I'm going to be very careful in what we do for him.
  22. Juan, Welcome to the board! We're honored by your presence.
