  1. I should have been the first!!!!! My wife distracted me when I was posting (pick up the kids from the kindergarten - woman, don't you see I am BUSY?!?!)!!!!! For 17 years since I joined this forum I was waiting for this moment - to be the first one to post about this (mediocre) Chris Fagan album when THE RIGHT MOMENT COMES!!! And then some American Joe posts about it a split second before I do!!!!!! Americans were not even supposed to be awake at that time!!!! What an abject humiliation!!!!!! Have no choice but to quit this forum in disgrace now (might have to consider a divorce too)!!!!!!! What a coincidence, though .
  2. Sonny Brown (drummer with Roland Kirk, Attila Zoller, etc.): https://www.discogs.com/artist/646690-Sonny-Brown?filter_anv=0&type=Credits
  3. Chris Fagan (alto saxophone) with Bobby Bradford, Reggie Workman and Andrew Cyrille - "Lost Bohemia" (Open Minds, 1992): https://www.discogs.com/Chris-Fagan-Lost-Bohemia/release/1014907 It's OK, nothing special.
  4. This one (all 14 tracks) is available at Spotify (copyright Verve / UMG): https://open.spotify.com/album/2e8bHUiUMHPTNJuCgUvXZG
  5. Is this the solo or the Blue Note one?
  6. You might want to watch the DIscogs page: https://www.discogs.com/Carlos-Ward-Quartet-Feat-Woody-Shaw-Lito/release/4238572 . One copy was sold there for a modest €12 a month ago. I bought it Italy in 2002 and thought it was actually not that good. Ward is playing better on the Blackwell dates. There's definitely better Shaw out there. Sold it to someone on this forum a few years ago. Curious why it was deleted from the Leo catalog. Don't forget Ward with Cecil Taylor, Bologna and Vienna concerts on Leo. Lyons he is not, but he's holding pretty well. I also like his two duets with Karl Berger from the Berger's "Conversations" album, the flute one in particular.

  8. A good one. I guess you saw it, but just in case - it is offered on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/Cor-Fuhler-7-CC-In-Io/release/2347882
  9. I totally agree.

  12. Send a message to the Discogs users who own it, they might be willing to trade / sell or will rip it for you: https://www.discogs.com/release/stats/6965111#collection

Did this really have to be an 8-CD box, no way to edit it to 7?!

    Frank Zappa

Oh, thanks for the correction, my bad.
  15. I am selling this OOP set from 2016. Here is a Discogs entry: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Impulse-25-Seminal-Jazz-Albums-In-One-Box/release/11436745 There is a slight shelf wear to the cardboard box. The CDs are in excellent condition, many never played. The price: €45 ($49) plus shipping (€10 to Europe, €20 elsewhere). Payment: bank transfer (preferred), PayPal.
  16. Skopelitis / Sharrock "Faith Moves". Haven't listened to it for a long time - what a gorgeous music.

    Frank Zappa

Well, I guess you could make a point comparing bad Zappa to bad Stockhausen. Perhaps you might want to illustrate it with a superior version of "Billy the Mountain" (with excellent Don Preston solo at 22:30): One thing that Zappa liked in Kaylan and Volman was that they were good sight readers, and he gave them some tough ones to sing. According to Kaylan, Zappa was even willing to tolerate their getting high (permanently) because this did not affect their performance. Good Zappa, on the other hand...:

Ainsley Dunbar's presence makes it worth a couple of listens once it's on Spotify.

  20. Art Tripp seems to be a very nice guy. As for Beefheart, from what I have read / seen, all the musicians, even the Trout Mask Replica band members who were psychologically (and sometimes physically) abused by Don and understandably hold a grudge against him, are at pains to confirm that the music ideas were Don's. The ideas were presented in a musically illiterate and disjointed manner, and the band members had to do a lot of work to arrange them, but these were his ideas nonetheless. Here is Gary Lucas's perspective: This is the piece that he is referring to:

I don't buy or download through the app, can't comment on this. I buy through browser and stream on the phone through the app. I would agree, not the most user-friendly platform, but life is too short to wait for a perfect solution to listen to the music you want, right?

A lot of music is not available either on CD or streaming, so bandcamp is the only way. The best revenue option for the artists, I guess. Actually today, May 1st, bandcamp is waiving its fees and 100% of the revenue goes to artists. And yes, of course you can download (in various formats) and stream (both through the browser and the app).
