  1. Oh, even multiple-CD jewel cases, nice. Thanks, Pim.
  2. Can anybody recommend where to buy quality standard jewel cases - preferably in Europe, Japan or Asia? I got the best-reviewed ones from the German amazon (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00006J4EP/) and they are flimsy crap.
  3. These are standard privacy terms on most of the websites. In the EU all the websites have to provide a clear disclaimer of this type - and give you an option to opt out (however cumbersome it might be in reality) - as per GDPR. In the US they did not have to do it, as far as I understand. Maybe they do now. Just because you don't have such a pop-up whenever you login on any other website, it does not mean their privacy terms are any better. If you are curious, look for Privacy Policy on any website you visit - a lot of fun stuff there.
  4. Nice documentary on Breuker (with English subtitles).

Enhance? Been reading too many spam emails?
  6. Works fine for me, but I think it might be more active in Europe (unscientifically judging by my Wishlist - the stuff I want is predominantly offered by the European sellers). It is easy to list items for sale and set up shipping rates. You might want to factor the PayPal fees (nearly everybody would pay by PayPal - to my chagrin, since there are more economical ways to transfer money these days) and local taxes, if any (e.g. EU sellers have to pay local VAT on top of 8% Discogs fee) in your price.
  7. Sonny himself endorsed this release. Was he made aware of the edits? If yes, was he informed about why the edits were made? Is anybody from Resonance going to inform Sonny about the wrong speed issue?
  8. Yes, great stuff.
  9. More interesting series (or sublabel, whatever) of Hat Hut is hatART: https://www.discogs.com/label/138774-hat-ART . A lot of great 90's jazz there, this one for example: The series was discontinued in 1997 and hatOLOGY and hat[now]ART imprints were started. Quite a few of the hatART releases were later reissued as a part of these new series, but not all. Most of the stuff is available on streaming now.
  10. Great stuff indeed.
  11. Yes, absolutely.
  12. From my yesterday's bandcamp haul: Bruised by Tony Bevan, Orphy Robinson, John Edwards, Ashley Wales and Mark Sanders - fantastic. I remember eyeing it way back when, 15 years ago in the Funny Rat times, but Foghorn CDs were quite expensive then. Now at GBP 6 per download (and GBP 4 per CD!) there is absolutely no excuse not to get it. https://tonybevan.bandcamp.com/album/bruised

  16. Available on streaming services (in Ultra HD no less on amazon music!).
  17. Anybody knows what mastering was used on the Wayne Shorter set? I just did a quick A/B comparison with my standard RVG of "Adam's Apple" and it definitely sounds different.

You can get it as a part of this set: https://www.amazon.com/5-Original-Albums-CD/dp/B07BLHMWYL/
  19. Oh man, this is great. Such a gorgeous sound! Thanks for bringing this up, no way I would have learned about it otherwise. Just sold my box on Discogs. I thought the performances were stilted and mechanistic, and the instrument sounded tinny. Many many better versions available, IMHO. This one, for example:
  20. I like his "Solo" on Concord.
  21. Mine too. My go-to McPhee recommendation is "Grand Marquis", a tenor duo with drummer John McLellan, on Boxholder.
  22. Just listened to her "Early Americans" album (trio with Mark Helias and Bobby Previte), I think it is just great and the production is fantastic.
  23. Well, I love Kidd Jordan and Fred Anderson (although with Anderson most of his releases sound kind of the same to me). I can't stand David S. Ware, never could. Brötzmann at least I used to like, and quite a bit so, but Ware - never. There was one album of his that I thought was mildly interesting - "Corridors & Parallels", but mainly due to Shipp's synth playing.
  24. I think so. A lot of predictable 60s fire-music clichés. On the other hand, Adams and Sanders are fantastic on this one, I would have been very happy if this were their duo album. Here is what I had to say about it last week... oh wait, 16 years ago - and I still think the same way (I am actually listening to the album right now):
  25. Very true. Speaking about bagpipes (aren't we always?), for years I've been meaning to check out Dunmall on the instrument. I don't like his tenor playing (boring), his soprano is horrendous (IMHO, of course), but I remember quite liking the only bagpipe record of his I heard ("Hit and Run" on FMP). And what's up with Psi-ficaton of the cover art?
