  1. Like new. $325 including domestic (USA) shipping and insurance. petezwief@gdinet.com
  2. Can someone define each of these piano styles and provide some examples (i.e., musicians and recordings)? Feel free to list you favorites in each category. Thanks.
  3. Unfortunately Tjazz is spot on. Oh well.
  4. What follows is an excerpt from my Will dealing with my music collection. What I'm trying to avoid is my wife or kids dumping the collection cheap after my death. What I'm trying to accomplish is maximum listening exposure in the hopes that somebody out there will enjoy this music as much as I have. Anyway, here it is: II. TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY A. To my wife, SARAH, I bequest whatever compact discs, records or other recordings that she may select from my collection of recordings. B. To my sons JACK and LEWIS I bequest fifty (50) recordings each as they may select from remainder of my collection of recordings after the bequest to SARAH above. C. To the WHITEFISH BAY PUBLIC LIBRARY, I bequest whatever compact discs, records or other recordings that it may select from the remainder of my collection of recordings after the bequests contained in Articles II.A and II.B above. This bequest is contingent on WHITEFISH BAY PUBLIC LIBRARY agreeing to: 1. Promptly place all said recordings it selects in its circulating collection after it receives its distribution; 2. Keep all said recordings in its circulating collection for no less than two (2) full years; and 3. Promptly donate any recordings it removes from it's collection after the two (2) year minimum specified above to radio Station WMSE of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. D. To radio Station WMSE of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, I bequest whatever compact discs, records or other recordings that remain of my collection of recordings after the bequests contained in Articles II.A, II.B and II.C above.
  5. Will buy or trade. petezwief@gdinet.com
  6. Well Sunnyside is supposedly the label that issued all the Jazz in Paris discs. At least that's what they tell me and I'm not arguing since they agreed to replace the missing disc. Barnes & Noble lists Sunnside as the label. See http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/pro...2-2004+19:06:10
  7. I sent an email to sunnyside@attglobal.net. I got a response the same day, asking for my address so they could mail a replacement. Said it would take a few weeks.
  8. I was most dissappointed when I openned my copy of Donald Byrd Quintet Parisian Thoroughfare to find that it instead contained the disc to Henri Crolla & Co Notre ami Django.
  9. This was panned by AllMusicGuide. Have you heard it? Do you like it?
  10. Thanks for the info. It's not easy being a completist, is it!
  11. In regards to the great debate 75 or 76 discs, there are indeed 75. Although there is a disc numbered 76, there is no disc No. 8 in the box.
  12. Thanks to Deus62, who hipped me to a set on ebay.de, I also acquired the 75 disc box for 199e (plus 40e shipping) or $301. A great price on what is, based on the 1st 4 discs, a great box. I've not seen the new 25 disc box anywhere? Can anyone out there suggest a source? Thanks.

    Stan Getz

My favorite Getz bosa nova is the 1st one, with Charlie Byrd.
  14. Based on the above postings, and having more than enough Aebi in my collection, I passed on Beat Suite and picked up Work. I agree that Work is, indeed, outstanding.
  15. I've got the Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis, and Black Lion Vogue Monk. However, while all of these Mosaics are out of print, the Nichols is available in a Blue Note box, while the Ammons/Lewis & Monk are not so readily available. Plus the Mosaic Nichols CDs suffered from pin holes in the disc, so the blue note version is probably better in that regard. In short, would you be interested in buying the Ammons/Lewis &/or Monk? If so, make an offer. Thanks. petezwief@gdinet.com
  16. Is David Friesen the guy from Oregon who plays mostly in the upper register and a lot of notes?
  17. I'm in the market for both of the Jazz in Paris boxes. If anyone knows a cheap source or has one for sale, please email me at petezwief@gdinet.com. Thanks.
  18. Brandford Marsalis - Bloomfield.
  19. Brandford Marsalis - Bloomfield.
  20. Mine just came, and I have to make one comment right away. I'm a little disappointed in the cardboard sleaves for the discs because I don't think they adequately protect the discs.
  21. I'm with Sal. These guys knock me out!

  23. Maybe I'll change my nickname to moldy fig!
  24. IMHO this is crap. The goal seems to be to play the same mindless patterns over and over as fast as they can. This is the stuff that killed jazz until the 1980s and the young lions (Wynton, et al ). No ofense meant to those who like it, and I certainly won't be offended by those who take issue with my opinion.
  25. I've got a copy of the 10 disc Cecil Taylor Feel Trio Codanza Box entitled "2Ts for a Lovely T" that I would like to trade for the Cecil 10 disc FMP box. Email me at petezwief@gdinet.com if interested.
