  1. The record has really grown on me. Can't wait to see the Friday gig in Austin.
  2. On the air with The Cutting Edge - KOOP 91.7 FM in about 45 minutes. Some Tim Berne and related material in advance of next Friday's concert.

  3. Awaiting the next Mary Halvorson album reminds me of the days (pre-Internet) when I'd wonder when the new Sonic Youth or related album would be released. In a sea of new music, much of it excellent, this is a special thing indeed. And yeah, I just put it on.

  4. Is it just me or is it hot in here? Or is it this massive new accession blocking the airflow?

  5. Other Dudeks as a leader: Open, on FMP, with Buschi Niebergall and Edward Vesala (1977) and another co-led session w/ Takehiro Honda (p) called Flying to the Sky (Trio, 1971). Gerd Dudek is great.
  6. Too bad it's "inessential" because the players listed make it sound pretty interesting. Fagerstedt is on Stockholm Dues, which is a fucking great album.
  7. I'm not against the project. Seems like far more dubious projects have been "kickstarted" in the past couple of years.
  8. Nice finds, would love to have that Horo for the right price.
  9. Ah, never had that one though I do dig Wallin. I bet his large ensemble writing is "stewy."
  10. Anyone ever hear the trio record with Larry Young, Grant Green, and Elvin Jones: Into Something? Very nice. Quartet: some guy named Sam Rivers is on it as well.
  11. Not to poop in the punch bowl, but stereo Liberty pressings aren't that expensive. I think I got mine, a very clean copy, for around $25.
  12. you've got some nice stuff. That Stanko/Vesala looks killer (I only know Twet).
  13. Aha, there seem to be two different covers. I had only ever seen the one that that actually has Mobley, which I assume is a second corrected version. But yes, who is the tenorist on the other one? Top one looks like Johnny Griffin to me...
  14. And Scott LaFaro, for that matter. Also Clifford Brown and Richie Powell. Also Bob Berg was killed in a car wreck. Eddie Costa, too, right?
  15. Was that recorded in Chicago, or what was the deal?
  16. Wow - RIP. Looking forward to reading that interview.
  17. Ah, that was going to come out on Tony Levin's Rare Music label (which I understand is still going in Tony's absence). Either way, looking forward to hearing it.
  18. Yes, it's on Material's One Down LP, with that song also issued as a 12" single. Not bad. Though IIRC it's a Robert Wyatt song.
  19. Haven't pulled that fine one out in a while. Nor the Wallin above. I need to dig back into some of these LPs again.
  20. That was what I thought, too, though someone recently countered/corrected that claim.
  21. That's been a symptom of a lot of NJ LPs that I've had. Some worse than others.
  22. Some thoughts here.
  23. Dusty Groove also has (or had) it. I've never succeeded in emailing her but someone, somewhere, must be able to, else the Ogun CDs wouldn't be floating around in the US. Congrats on the Moholo-Moholo duo, Alexander.
  24. Was just listening to this the other night. Fine one indeed. Chuck said something a while back about the Riker's Island LP being much, much better in mono. Does that hold true for other Audio Fidelity LPs?
