  1. Yeah, I saw him on a gig with Byard Lancaster and Harold E. Smith shortly before he passed and in that context, Harley's bagpipes worked... in a way. It was an interesting set.
  2. I have to say that Circuit des Yeux really brought it last night. The power-trio formation is pretty incredible; vague whiff of Kendra Smith fronting a Bad Moon Rising-era Sonic Youth, perhaps? Anyway, go see her/them at End of an Ear today. You won't be disappointed.

  3. Yeah, Jeanne's people don't want that happening for less than an obscene amount of money.
  4. I've got one forming - in its nascent stages - on my right eye and I'm 35. Glad the surgery was a success and from the sound of things, not too complex.
  5. I can see everyone's images just fine... I'm on Firefox.
  6. Much later, but still interesting.
  7. Time to post some French and Swedish Atlantics with alternate covers, eh?
  8. Ah, the RAU!
  9. Mingus - Oh Yeah - (Atlantic, red & green) I was up late drinking beer and watching movies, so this is clearing my brain pretty well right now.
  10. I've never been able to get into his music - had Eastern Moods, Golden Flute, 1984 and maybe a couple others and sold them all long ago. Maybe I need to try again, because clearly he's an incredibly respected musician and composer.
  11. Pretty close to mine, though I would want to put Patty Waters and Annie Ross in there too somehow.
  12. :tup
  13. A.R. Penck/Frank Wollny/Heinz Wollny + Gianluigi Trovesi - Through the Black Hole - (Utopia)
  14. That cover art would make good Indian restaurant wallpaper ! Yeah, if that's 1964, the art director was ahead of his/her time in terms of getting psychedelic. Ever heard of either of these two (bottom, lower-leftish, very small print)? Barbara Nessim is a respected visual artist, illustrator and professor. I couldn't see who the other person involved with the cover art was. The record looks like it's interesting.
  15. er....I've never heard of it .... This should help. Enjoy ! Colbeck Is it still expensive? I feel like I bought mine for around $40, but that was at least 10 years ago.
  16. Thanks for that, Mark. The last quote is kind of priceless.
  17. Very high on my list of truly excellent "obscure" free jazz vinyl.
  18. Great post, Al. I'm really glad to be part of this community, too. Opened my ears and mind a ton. Didn't post much at the BNBB or AAJ, though I was on those boards too.
  19. Yeah, Life Between the Exit Signs is a very Bley-esque LP.
  20. That Antiques Roadshow bit is interesting, though the appraised value as a cultural artifact is kind of absurd in my thinking. Then again, the Beatles aren't my cup of tea, so...
  21. I just had some bad luck with grading from Dusty. An LP they graded as "Very Good" came in with both sides having rice crispies throughout & had several large, visible scratches that showed up as clicks and pops, some of them very heavy. I'll be a little less likely to use them for used vinyl in the future. I've had better luck with Euclid. Let me know if you want to sell it someday. Yeah, I avoid "VG" like the plague. VG+ has generally been okay with them, as has NM-. Who knows, if I ever have a massive sell-off I'll let you know! I believe they graded it "VG+" and it's easily that, if not better (and I'm very, very anal about condition).
  22. I guess we cyclists have to pony up sometimes if we want the police to catch hit and run drivers by sheepishly agreeing that yes, we did snake that light. Swear I thought it was about to turn green on me!

  23. Think I paid about $20 for it from Dusty.
  24. Would be curious to read the results of your research; I know next to nothing about him.
  25. Huh. Interesting. Thanks!
