  1. Bought it on LK's recommendation a while back. It is excellent indeed.
  2. 'snice stuff. Think Mazurek has a new one coming out this winter. That Johnny Herndon sure has gotten good since his Tortoise/etc. days...
  3. RIP and thanks for capturing the music.
  4. I like this resource, though it's pretty far flung: The Canterbury Discography
  5. Those upcoming Morris & Bynum discs look like ones I'll be picking up. As for Wiesendanger, he's an excellent pianist and the idea behind the trio released on Hat was pretty cool. HOWEVER, the drummer is lame and the session doesn't live up to its promise.
  6. Mine's got that cool cover too. I think he/they ran out after a while and sent the rest along in plain outers. Mine is visually clean but I'm not so impressed by the vinyl quality...
  7. Thanks for the props. Just got to keep that eBay trigger finger in check!
  8. I am a recent grad in my first "real" post-grad academic position. I've been check-to-check for several years and still will be for a little while. I suppose big vinyl purchases will have to be cut off for awhile, though I guess on the consumer end more "specialty" items will be cheaper. I don't own my house, but rent it. My car is in good shape and paid off. Guess I'm one of those not-on-the-radar broke mofos... invariably this meltdown will affect things like getting on tenure track, etc., in the coming year or two, but I been down so long I don't know which way is up...
  9. Yeah, that's a good one. I have it somewhere on an Inner City LP. The New Worlds are great; haven't heard 'em in years though. The opening minimal violin riff on "Idut" is particularly awesome.
  10. The Dixon book is rare as hen's teeth. He may still have a few and if I see him over the holidays like I plan to, I'll ask. He wanted to revise it but that seems like a lower priority than other projects. The Heffley sucked. I was going to be nice, but Larry did an excellent job of telling the real story with that one. I don't think he was as knowledgeable about his subject or as good a writer as he thought he was...
  11. Thanks, guys. I remember when Dusty had it, probably around the time it was reissued, but I probably assumed it'd stick around for longer... whoops! Pendulum is indeed excellent - I got that one from the Bastids.
  12. Hi all, I'm looking for a nice, gently used (or new) copy of the Mike Taylor Trio CD on Gilles Peterson's Impressed-Repressed series. It was originally issued on Columbia Lansdowne (LP). I would be happy to pay a fair market value for the CD, as I know it's tough to find and quite rare. Shoulda bought it when it was around for $18.99 but had other things to think about... Thanks, Clifford
  13. Wow. That's pretty sweet!
  14. That's fantastic news. Congrats!
  15. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I didn't like it that much. Ambitious, but too many errors and some unfollowed-through ideas kinda ruined it for me. Here's one: Bill Dixon's L'OPERA: A Collection of Letters, Writings, Musical Scores, Drawings, and Photographs (1967-1986), vol. I, is fantastic.
  16. Sorry I came late to the party. Happy Birthday. Girlfriend is on the couch, Tubby Hayes on the stereo, so I guess I'm having my own little fete in your honor!
  17. Thanks, Alex. If Forced Exposure doesn't come through in the next week I'll surely take you up on your offer.
  18. Damn. This one still lingers, though I did not know Rod's music well.
  19. Yeah, I would like that. Haven't been on dime in awhile (computer issues) but will see what I can do. And the '64 set sounds up my alley. Guess Fledg'ling are going to be issuing a McGregor/Phillips/Moholo trio posthaste too, so that's something to watch for. Alexander: tried to get Barkingside from Forced Exposure but it was backordered. Look forward to (finally) hearing it soon in any event and from whatever source.
  20. Indeed, and thanks for all your contributions to the music's history! Have a great day!
  21. Newk in Austin next year. I live a stone's throw from the UT PAC.
  22. I was referring to the Reece. I have passed up that Jack Wilson on other occasions, though.
