  1. Actually, I seek those out. Far superior to most RVG remasters.
  2. They're not bad. "Don't need talk at all!"
  3. I keep them inside the jacket so they don't mar the cover image. I will say that on the few Japanese records that I've sold, it's been a bitch to get those suckers back on...
  4. I don't know about "sound," but I always felt like the only quality (musically) LP in that set was the Murray/Roscoe split.
  5. Yeah, he's hawking his LPs for pretty high prices...
  6. I thought there was a P-Vine CD of Scorpio.
  7. Roland Kirk - Now Please Don't You Cry, Beautiful Edith - (Verve gf orig)
  8. I have the Sunspots reissue of the Silva Seasons LP, recorded by ORTF, because the original pressing is so poor. That CD set sounds really good. The remaining Actuels, of which I have uh - all of them, vary widely in recording quality as well as pressing. The ones done at Studio Saravah I remember being pretty good, like the Don Cherrys and (I think) the Dewey Redman.
  9. Eric Dolphy - Quintet USA - (Unique Jazz) w/ Armour, Hancock, Davis and Bateman. Performance info not listed, but I assume this is the Gaslight date?
  10. Television - Adventure - (Elektra orig)
  11. I think he does just as much work "selling" Braxton in the notes - if not more - than explaining the milieu around the time these records were originally released. They're a bit disorganized for me and it sounds, to me, like he hasn't done as much listening as he should be doing - especially to other musicians, others in the AACM, etc. The European jazz book really was not my shit, even though that music is very important to me.
  12. Bardo Pond, Chicago in about 2001.. Borbetomagus in Minneapolis, 2003.. Went to tons of punk shows in the '90s and they were probably all equally deafening, though it's hard to remember specifics of who was the loudest.
  13. Homemade carrot-apple-ginger juice. I quit drinking alcohol over the summer and this stuff is my choice beverage, along with coffee and San Pellegrino.
  14. Mal Waldron - The Call - (Globe/Victor Japan, gatefold) w/ Jimmy Jackson, Eberhard Weber and Fred Braceful.
  15. Fantasias Marocaines - (Le Chant Du Monde) Recordings of traditional Moroccan music by Maurice Benitah.
  16. How do people feel about Heffley's notes? (I think the omission of Cooper in the liners was egregious)
  17. This might make you feel better: Harry Taussig - Fate is Only Once - (Talisman, reissue)
  18. Jan Garbarek - Witchi-Tai-To - (ECM, US pressing)
  19. I think I got mine for about $30 several years ago. I would guess now around $40 or $50 if it's sealed.
  20. Happy Birthday, Chris, and many more!
  21. Never even heard of Jimmy Jones...
  22. John Fahey - Days Have Gone By - (Takoma black label orig) Good to be back in business with the bulk of my records again.
  23. V/A - Give Me Love: Songs of the Brokenhearted, Baghdad 1925-1929 - (Honest Jon's)
  24. $40 for the Colbeck, not the Dolphy... Edit to add: a great little record, the Colbeck, but far fewer give a shit about it than Eric and Erik.
  25. I dunno... it's definitely dubious. Why wouldn't you want the box and book? It's not even that expensive of a set in the first place, priceless considering the music.
