  1. Yeah, this is a fine, fine one that I haven't dug out in quite some time. In addition to sending me a review copy, he signed and sent one to my dad. Super sweet guy. Also some love for the pair of discs he issued on his Speetones label...
  2. Location was on Strata, not Strata-East. Would love to check that out.
  3. Wishing you the very best today - and some obscure vinyl, to boot!
  4. What a drag... RIP.
  5. I almost bought a complete DGG set on vinyl but came to find that it was missing a record...
  6. That's my favorite Neil, too. See, you must be at least all right because we have similar tastes.
  7. The Monterose in Action LP is a motherfucker (I have the VSOP reissue). I would assume his playing on these two tracks is very strong, as it's from the same period. I think I gotta hear this
  8. Here are a few more, the list may not be "well-informed" only because I'm not a huge follower of jazz vocals... but these four I find extraordinary. All of Jeanne's and Patty's work is major, of course. Sheila Jordan - Portrait of Sheila Patty Waters - You Thrill Me Jeanne Lee w/ Ran Blake - The Newest Sound Around John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman
  9. But both Mahler and Neil Young are great.
  10. And of course Academy wouldn't note that it's a repress...
  11. No, that tangent is important and one reason why I'm keeping my early Liberty pressing of the damn thing in the first place.
  12. what on earth is the content? Psycho-billy, iirc.
  13. All I know is that the LP - orig that is - is pretty darn rare. Yipes! (Would love to check it out for Monterose's contributions)
  14. Yeah, that's the deal. Unless they're putting two sides of ONJO covers of OTL on there...
  15. Yeah, just heard about that. And for some time I was thinking of buying one of the "new" crackle-boxes...
  16. Frontal lobotomies all round ! The photo of the back cover was too small for me to read. Who the buggerin' 'ell are those flautists? MG Russell Webster was the nominal leader, I guess. But I'm speechless as the Uncle Funkenstein 45 isn't even valuable...
  17. I mean, judging from the sound samples it's a decent record, but in that ratty condition for THAT MUCH?! Give me a break.
  18. Check the new issue of Signal To Noise for an article I did on Allen and his muse.
  19. I have it on LP and purchased the US Conn version for the second disc of material. I could swear I bought it twice because of the problem you mention, but it was some time ago.
  20. Batiste goes sky high
