You know, Lion did approach Spaulding to do one, but apparently they wanted something a little more boogaloo-oriented, which wasn't so much what Spaulding wanted to do for his own date.

Spending a lot of time with Grow Fins lately. I always "liked" his music, though whether I fully appreciated it... I don't know. Now, I feel closer to "getting" it and have really enjoyed the last few spins of that boxed set.
Regardless of the Cuscuna quote, the '70s were a really fertile time for the music. Some of us who were there could probably tell some stories - and I'm not just talking the loft jazz scene, etc., but also considering the Europeans and the expats. From a historical perspective, it was a crucial period for this music.
