  1. Who the hell is Khalil Rahman?
  2. AEC - Tutankhamen - (Freedom orig, French press)
  3. Wow, this looks GREAT!!! Wonder if I can swing it... will be heavy time for me school-wise.
  4. So that's where Harry's glasses went. Holy cow! Wearing a pair not dissimilar to those right now, myself!
  5. I remember that. Funny stuff!
  6. Blue Trane: I made a mix-CD of this type of music for someone who had the same question as you. Sam Rivers, Eric Dolphy, Stanley Cowell, a bunch of stuff. PM me if you'd like a copy.
  7. In my audio preservation course, that issue was never solved. Seems more often to be a pressing issue than a tape issue, however, and depending on one's cartridge choice, can be reduced. But I'm not an expert.
  8. Still holding out for a nice copy of the Sonic Arts Union LP. But that's another story.
  9. The Incredible String Band - Wee Tam - (Elektra gold-label orig)
  10. Not sure I follow... are you saying that we should drop this thread?? No.
  11. Whilst spinning Mama Cass?!
  12. I would assume these are from Irene's archives. That is, all of the tapes that, compiled, give us this Cuneiform disc. Who knows, Lacy and Cie may have paid for the studio time in the first place and, regardless of provenance, I look forward to hearing the material.
  13. Danielle's peer is in high school, I assume. Yikes. It freaks me out that I've even looked twice at an 18-year-old girl, and I'm 30.
  14. I guess I didn't know Gras had passed...
  15. The original America LP has a large picture of Don Cherry both front and back, the front very similar to what appears on the Actuels... the spine reads "The Fabulous Paul Bley Trio."
  16. Thanks for sharing that!
  17. Me too. I'm not Big Tuna. Just Clifford.
  18. That's a good LP. Kent Carter is the bassist.
  19. I haven't heard it yet, but aim to. There are four "early" tracks and a ton of later stuff that I'm not sure I care that much about (if that Verve disc from a few years ago is any indication). But the early tracks... curious! I believe that, yes, those tracks are from either Verve or Columbia. Bob Cunningham is on bass.
  20. I like Chick's earlier work, myself. It's not earth-shattering, but the work with Pete La Roca, Blue Mitchell, Woody Shaw, etc. is pretty sweet. I also dig mightily on Circle. Don't care so much for anything after that, though. If I'm not mistaken, Miles discussed Herbie as a "tinkerer," always looking for new sounds and combinations, which explains the attraction of electric instruments and so forth.
  21. Valdo Williams - New Advanced Jazz - (Savoy orig) w/ Reggie Johnson and Stu Martin
  22. I once saw a Lex pressing of the Herbie Nichols 12" on BN, marked up but played okay. Sadly, I was real broke at the time and just "couldn't" pony up the $20...
