  1. RIP. Have only heard the Riverside, but he seems like an interesting character.
  2. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really enjoying her singing on this tune...
  3. My last girl did the same thing... that is not how I met her, however. And there was no apartment/house across the street.
  4. I'm with you.
  5. I have a German International Polydor of it, with a different cover image. Good record, for $20 or any price.
  6. As long as I don't have to hear David Keenan play saxophones... Tiny Meat Trio, or whatever it is.
  7. OK, so it's a Japanese pressing, but if nobody buys this, I'll eat my hat. Jym Young
  8. I had a Chuck Nessa dream recently. I preferred my Halle Berry dream of last night, though.
  9. I understood that it was "live" in the studio, in front of Fontana people and a few select invitees.
  10. Just pretend you didn't see that extra "zero" and it'll be okay...
  11. Two words: Keith Monks.
  12. Big picture = bad, vs. Big picture = good. Small picture = bad, vs. Small picture = good. Depends on who's painting, and where they dip their brushes. Byron Allen is "pretty good," but I'm glad he was there... Explain, though, E, what you mean by the most crucial innovations of the AACM being intellectual/stylistic/idiomatic. I'm not sure yet whether I'd agree with that as not being equally limiting.
  13. "Academic" or no, Roscoe's a complex guy, and his music demands attention and careful consideration. I make no bones that I'm anywhere even near being in his craw, but I enjoy and respect his music immensely. Even though my experience with the Parker/ECM New Series has been kinda lukewarm - or, rather, my perception of it has - I would like to hear this.
  14. Thanks, Chuck. That's helpful. I have the laminated cover with the drawing, but a white ESPM-1006 disc.
  15. Isn't that what Judd is about? Well, that's for another thread...
  16. Yoshi Wada - Off the Wall - (SAJ orig) Damn fine minimal LP... burning it and trading it to a friend. Kinda sad to see it go, but I am getting hooked up, I hope!
  17. A buddy of mine has some Chris McGregor and Sun Ra 8-tracks, which I think is pretty cool. Also, a few cassettes on America!
  18. Allan, that's hardcore.
  19. I like Mengelberg's tune, "Hypochristmutrefuzz," a lot. It was apparently written to trip up Dolphy, because he wasn't a real circular-breathing type of player.
  20. Was just listening the other day to Positions 3-6-9. Thanks for putting that one out!
  21. Yeah, and Prince Lasha made me think about getting a Firebird...
  22. Sun WHO?
  23. Back to regular programming... Lubomyr Melnyk - KMH: Piano Music in the Continuous Mode - (Music Gallery Editions)
  24. I checked out the reunion Sebadoh gig with Eric Gaffney in Austin recently. Strong stuff... that is, when Gaffney was fronting the bit. Lou can suck it. I like Dino, but feel that after Green Mind, shit went in the toilet. Hopefully the bombast and energy can be reclaimed.
