  1. Lent?!? Braxton can HAVE my $10 bill any time!
  2. Always liked your handle! Hope it's a grate b-day, Eloe!
  3. Swell Maps - International Rescue - (Alive) Great comp of b-sides and rarities from a classic post-punk band. The back cover references a concert with Kleenex, Raincoats & Swell Maps - what a lineup!
  4. Jesus Christ... that's like a $100 record tops!
  5. ...and yet you wrote "Ezz-thetic" ?!?
  6. It's rare that I get a jazz tune stuck in my head, though it does happen. It usually seems to be either of these three: Albert Ayler "Ghosts" Steve Lacy "La Motte Piquet" Kenneth Terroade "Love Rejoice" (a/k/a "Friendship Next of Kin")
  7. I mean, obviously the guy is a fuckall, but it's not the scam of the century either. Also, I don't quite understand why - and I've stated this before - auctions with no pictures, vague descriptions and a seller with no history of dealing in extraordinarily valuable Blue Note LPs, would garner that much bidding attention. These records are certainly findable from reputable sellers and dealers, such as Atomic, bullsite2000, Roberto Castelli, Armand Lewis and a number of other folks. I would NEVER pay a grand for a title that I can't verify is in solid condition, much less verifiably extant! So, though you all are probably good folks, you were foolish to bid on these auctions. My sympathy is rather minimal.
  8. I'd like to know what kind of tobacco he's chewing. She.
  9. "Kings & Queens" - Jacobites where the rivers / turn to sand / I will hold your hand and the kings and the queens / are out tonight riding their black horses / through the night ...
  10. I've been on what seems like an AACM kick lately... as much as I can be on a particular kick of anything!
  11. Mine's white "ESPS-1014", but with that jacket. Yeah, the orig mono was red... good ol' ESP! Now spinning: Muhal Richard Abrams - Young at Heart / Wise in Time (Delmark, later pressing) 5tet side w/ Leo, Barker, Lashley and Threadgill - tho the solo piano is absolutely stunning, too.
  12. Same here. Well, that and the Savoy...
  13. Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Always liked this one, tho my flatmate thinks it tastes like tobacco juice.
  14. The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, vol. 1 - (ESP white-label stereo, orig b&w jacket)
  15. I concur on all points. Also, he has a name like a spy (sent from Saturn?).
  16. Takoma issued a lot of interesting stuff, most of which probably won't see the light of day under Concord. Side note: the first George Winston LP was issued on Takoma (later reissued by Windham Hill).
  17. Yeah, just don't try that Sessions shit. Just 'cos Portland's mossy don't make it Jamaican!
  18. Not to mention that Sete has an album on the Takoma label...
  19. Rhys Chatham - An Angel Moves Too Fast To See - (Radium) Music for 100 electric guitars, electric bass, and drums. Beautiful!
  20. Yeah, it's all over the place. I had to rifle through about seven copies just to grab a JVC copy of The Bridge yesterday...
  21. Think I prefer Kevin, My Dear Son. That is an excellent record - weird, but excellent.
  22. I am tempted to give chewy/Aric my number. For real.
